Is the battery turning over the engine properly or is it barely cranking over? The main function of a battery is to provide the power to turn the engine over until the engine starts, then it's only function is to help regulate the voltage in your system along with the alternator. Will the truck start when you hook it up to jumper cables? If the engine is turning over properly and the truck not starting, the battery is not the problem. You then need check out other things. For a gasoline engine to run, it requires three things; fuel to burn, compression in the engine and a spark at the right time to ignite the fuel. You must have all three for it to work.

Sounds like the starter is physically loose or going bad and draging.

Yes, trace the wires fromt he high beam indicator light to ground.

Check for shorts in the wiring harness. This requires undoing the conduit, though which maybe should be left to an auto electric technician..

Also, if there is a short, it can be detected using an inductive ammeter around the positive or negative wire leading to the battery.

If it is above 0.2A then the system has a short somewhere.

SOURCE: truck stuttered and died now wont start

yup it can in the distributor you have a white plastic coil .very common for these to just die. you have to pull the distributor to change . when you begin make sure number 1 cylinder is at top dead center . it makes it easie to put everything back together . your rotor will point to the number 1 cylinder on reassmebly then set timing ........ You have turned it over with a spark wire off right to see if it sparkes. do this first !

Jaguar 2004D electrical problem! It's start some

Been there, done that!!!(LOL) Check your battery terminal cable and make sure that it is tight enough. If may need to be relaced if it is old and rusty. Try auto zone for this. If that fails, go to Auto zone and have them test your battery. It may be time for a replacement. As far as that light, it may be an 02 sensor or catalytic converter. I love my car and have to replace these. May be cistly, but if you love the car, repair it!

2001 s430 bought new battery car wont start

Check for a good/clean connection on your battery terminals.Make sure it's on good & tight, then try to start the car - if that's not it. Get a jump, then go to Auto Zone, O'Reilley's, etc and get the battery & the starter checked. I'm betting it's either a poor connection, bad battery or your starter is going out (or possibly the starter relay switch) Start with your connections - that's the easy fix.

1991 firebird turns over slow, but always starts.

If the battery is in good condition, good connections and passes a load test, the starter may be bad. But be sure the connections and the grounds are good.

Car wont start

Check your starter motor, sounds like a dud winding in it. Then starter reeds to be overhauled / replaced.

Can you bump start it or is auto? If it's a stick shift you can try to bumpstart it, if it starts then its a good chance that the starter is fried.

Secirity light blinking and wont start

sounds like a weak battery you have now. Have a load test done to it free at Auto Zone first to see if it a good battery still. If its very old and your key was on all night the battery is probably history now

Sounds like a fuel air mixture problem. If the check engine light is on take it to a Auto Zone and they will read the codes for free.

1989 vw jetta wont crank. replaced battery still wont start.

There are a couple of possible answers, here...first check all cables and make sure they're clean and well connected. Follow the cable from the battery to the starter area...it should be connected to the selenoid. Again, make sure the connection is firm. Then check all fuses and replace any burned ones.
