The engine of my Xterra 2005 goes off occasionally while in motion or stationary or hard starts when parked for sometime. The electrical still works, radio, windows, etc. I have to free the gear while still in motion (it's auto) and restart the engine anytime that happens. Any suggestion?

its the rev limiter. its suppose to do that when the engine has no load or the vehicle is stationary so you don't break the engine. now when your moving and it happens check fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter,etc.

Hard to say, unless I have my hands on it. But I would say you have a ground problem. Check the grounds from the battery to the body and engine. Corroded/broken cables. This is common with power amps.

it sounds like a relay

Check your fuses,they are not cig. lighters.If you put a radar detector in the cig. lighter fuse will blow.

Have your transmission serviced and pressure test the transmission line. It sounds like the EPC (electronic Pressure Control) valve is starting to fail. Once the EPC valve fails, the transmission will default to the highest pressure and hard parts will eventually break. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible.

If your lucky it's going to be your TPS, Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace. TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)

check the fuse its probably getting faulty

I had similar symptoms, which progressed to stalling upon start-up. It made me think that I also needed a new starter; however, diagnostics revealed that I need a new fuel filter (which is not covered under the extended warranty) and, therefore, will cost about $450.00. Good luck.

What must I do, I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, the gear shift is stuck in park. do you have a solution to this problem?
