Check engine light should be on and an OBD scanner would show a code for TPS. What is the issue?

SOURCE: reading coder on toyota echo

I am sorry but no, there are different codes some are P codes, some are B codes, and there are other ones, OBD 1 (84-96) systems could flash the check eng lite and give you codes, but they were just two numbers like 12. A typical OBD 2 code is like this P1546, this is a emission code. Kragen auto or any of the chain auto parts stores will read the codes for free.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Toyota

First thought is ignition being way off - the ignition system usually gets the crankshaft position from a proximity switch (crank position sensor) and calculates ignition timing from this pulse. When this switch gives faulty pulses everything is off. Check connector and cable and if possible test it.

How to test & specs' on the TPS

Keep the ignition switch to ON engine OFF. Hook the scanner, diagnostic computer or Techstream and take the reading. With the throttle pedal fully released it should read the TP sensor value between 9.8% to 18%.
It is better to keep the value as close as to 9.8%. To adjust the TP sensor, loosen the two torx screws, and adjust the sensor to the desired value.

Throttle position sensor

Have you checked generic & enhanced data for codes
with a scan tool?

Have you scoped the TPS to put that to rest?

Your putting in throttle, but the ecu is not adding air calculation
or fuel,so you need to do some testing to see what's missing.

Starts & runs good, but under load or higher vacuum it bogs,so
check the egr system or any vacuum related systems.

Check for vacuum leaks, intake, exhaust before converter & evap system

How do you take of the throttle positioning sensor

Never make an attempt to disassemble the throttle plate. Nothing to do with it. Simply clean it and relearn the idle speed control speed.

Toyota Echo Automatic 2000 model. Stalls at low revs and shudders when taking off slowly. Replaced spark plugs fuel filter and air filter didnt seem to make any difference. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel problem. Check fuel pump and fuel rail. Do a fuel line pressure test. Try cleaning inside of throttle body really good and also the TPS at that location. There's many things that can make a car run bad.

On a 04 camry with 2.4 ltr engine, can I replace just the throttle position sensor or do i have to replace the entire throttle body? The engine code said faulty throttle body.

I think the terms "Throttle Positon Sensor", TPS and "Throttle Body" can be misleading at least in regards to the 04 Camry.

My 04 Camry gave a diagnostic reading of P2121 for my problem "Throttle PEDAL position switch D circuit". However, we changed out the complete Throttle Body/TPS (Toyota Part #22030-0H020) that did NOT fix problem.

The 04 Camry TPS Electronic Module "Throttle Positon Sensor" is factory assembled and riveted to the side of the throttle body. The only way to service/inspect it would be to cut off or drill out the rivets. Not sure you could open the darn thing if you got it off, but that seems to be the only way Toyota sells them!!

Hopefully a new Throttle PEDAL Position Sensor (Toyota Part # 78010-33010 PEDAL ASSY, ACC)
will fix it. This is located under the dash near the accelerator pedal.

So, now I would recommend FIRST to replace the "Throttle PEDAL Positon Sensor" (it is much, much cheaper) and then the Throttle Body/TPS assembly!! Unless of course, you get a diagnostic code as you did for "faulty throttle body!!
