The battery is dead every time I leave my 1998 Park Avenue parked overnight. I've also noticed the security light remains on when it is running. I've had the car to a local auto mechanic and he has informed me after an $800.00 bill that he cannot break through the security system and I would have to take it to a buick dealer which is in the next town. Thank you JQ

The Security features are installed into the ecu at the dealership. you can unplug the battery for 15 minutes and then re connect them this resets sensor codes and such but im pretty sure that your problem will still persist. i know for a fact that even if you replaced the ecu the security features will not let the vehicle run without pairing the new ecu with the existing security features.
i have a 98 buick park avenue i got a problem running it. it start but when i hit the break pedal some light comes out the direction signal and it shuts off i check all the fuse
One of the door pin switches is faulty, Interior light must be staying on and draining the battery. If you don't see the dome light staying on possibly the trunk switch is bad.
Obvious that something is drawing down the battery...Put a test light between the negative cable and the negative post of the battery (remove cable first) start pulling fuses till light goes out. That will tell you what system is drawing...you can then begin looking for the actual problem. If all fuses pulled and light remains on ,chances are you have an internal alternator problem.
The problem is the car think the park brake is on (intermittently). I would check the park brake switch, perhaps it's loose, or perhaps the park brake is pushed down to the first "click" spot. Also check the wiring connection to the switch, and the wiring nearby. Good luck!
