Sounds like the rear hatch switch has failed. remove the switch, and wiring. If the light goes out, then its a bad switch for rear hatch. Good-Day!

SOURCE: Latch for hatch of my '07 Subaru is closed with gate open

Unfortunately, you will have to remove the panel of the door, Use flathead screwdriver to pry open. It is very likely the spring fell off.

How do you open the back door (no manual)

Rear hatch is locked or unlocked with a key. (if equipped) • To open the rear hatch, insert the key into the lock, turn it to the unlock position and pull up the rear hatch by pressing the handle (DOOR). You can also lock/unlock the latch (but not release it) with the central door lock system. • If unlocked, the rear hatch can be opened by pressing the handle (DOOR) and pulling the hatch up. • To close the rear hatch, lower and push down the rear hatch firmly. Make sure that the rear hatch is securely latched.

My 2006 dodge durango rear hatch shuts but the back hatch lamp light n interior lights stay on why

The door switch isn't being pushed in far enough when the hatch is closed. The wire going to that switch may be shorted to the body somewhere, too.

I have a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. As you drive along a chime starts going off. No lights on dashboard light up.

Be sure all doors are closed securely including rear hatch. If that still happens one of the door or rear hatch electrical switches may need to be adjusted. If the car has been struck lately, start looking in that area.

Dodge durango rear hatch

Sounds like the sensor inside the rear latch. Most vehicles don't use an actual door switch these days.

Hello. I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The rear door/hatch no longer stays closed tight enough, so the door ajar light flickers on and off. As a result, my alarm goes off at random times. Could...

The better solution is to fix the hatch so it closes tightly. The latch hooks on to an adjustable loop. The hatch closes on to the rubber seal: if this is damaged, fix or replace. There may be some adjustable rubber bump stops as well. Lastly, check that the door ajar sensor is not loose.

Door ajar button stays on and makes a beeping noise

You will need to spray each door latch including the rear hatch liberally with WD 40 or spray lubricant on the latch and open and close each door several times after spraying. This will usually be sufficient to get the door sensors to detect when you have closed the doors. If this doesn't do it, it will hep to figure out which door is intermittently causing the door ajar light to stay on.

Rear hatch door won't lock dash light showing

You need to tighten the lock mech on the boot lid. this will close the boot just enough more to turn the light on. It's no biggy, you might need a star driver depending on bolt head. move it into the boot lid approx 4mm to start. then 1mm until 10mm. if no joy then it may be the sensor.

Need location for 'rear door open' warning light switch

This switch is in the lock it self. Push the lock into place with a screw driver (use the screw driver like the bar that the lock comes down onto)and the light should go off it you have all the wires still intacked.
