I press the button to open the roof but nothing happens. It is making all the right noises but nothing moves. Normally the sunroof section opens first then the rest of the roof folds down. Does anyone has any clues as to what is wrong please?
Sounds like something has let go like a shaft or rod the is in thge mecinism.

Have you checked the parcel shelf is seated properly as there are micro switches beneath it so the car knows it will not jam the roof as it is lowered?

check the parcel shelf has been refitted correctly as there is a micro switch on the left hand side that stops the second stage of the roof from opening

Some things to try:
Raise and lower all windows through a cycle or two
Open and re-latch the Rear shelf latches

sounds like the motor is going out or the track is getting stuck somewhere. you can try winding manually . call mini or bmw and they can walk you through it or give me year/make/model and i will try to walk you through.
