Ford focus fault finding

What may the problem be? Only when turning my steering wheel to the left I hear a screeching sound at the right wheel. All still feels like i have control over the car and it is just an eary sound.

I don't know what a "early" sound is, but there are several problems that can cause a screech: the commonest is a slipping power-steering belt combined with a stiffness in the steering rack. The cheapest is probably a stone caught between the brake pads and disc. So first check your tyre pressures, then check your brakes finally, take it to a garage to have the power-steering looked at.

it could be the front axle u-joint binding up. i had the same problem, and that's what it was. i put greaseable u-joints on both sides.

SOURCE: steering wheel make a noise when turn left

its due to low/no fluid level in the power steering reservoir.Check the fluid in the power steering. If it is low the car will make noise when you turn the wheel. the internal parts gets rubbed hard and noise occurs. refill the fluid and let it reset for some time then try it will get the fluency to move smooth and noise will get stopped. -------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution if helped.thank you for using fixya.

My ford focus has started humming in front end

this sounds like a hub bearing, to determine which one it is when your driving and you here the noise turn the steering wheel slightly left and then slightly right, the noise should get louder or lighter. If louder on right turn then it would be left bearing is bad because your putting more weight on the left side

Locked up Steering Wheel

Your Wheels may not be straight which could cause the steering wheel lock to get stuck. Turn the steering wheel left and right, from one stop to the other, watching how far the wheel travels. Now, turn the wheel to the center of the travel distance and turn the key. If this doesn't free it up, turn the key as you turn the steering wheel left then right to get the lock to release the wheel. Hope this helps and please rate my solution - and thanks for using Fixya!!

If the engine is running when turning steering then it sounds like a loose alternator drive belt, if the engine is switched off and the noise is coming from inside the car at the steering wheel area it will be the steering wheel coil spring swicth gear

Making sound when the wheel turns sharp slowly....

check your power steering fluid level if it's low refill it and see if you still hear the noise then take it to honda and have them find and repair the leak. the brakes are screeching like that cuz you may have had to make a quick stop in the past and it glazed the pads by over heating them, it should go away but if you are concerned you can always get a brake inspection
