Test the alternator. The battery light is for the charging system. Once the charging system is working with the engine running, the light should go off. If your light stays on with engine running, the alternator may need service or replacement.

To test the charging system, just put a voltmeter on the battery with engine running. The voltmeter should register at least 13.5 volts- alternator is charging. If you only show battery voltage with engine running, like 12.2-12.8 volts, the alternator or charging system is not working. The battery light should be on to signify this.

In most cases the check engine light indicates a sensor is bad. Have a mechanic scann it and if so replace it.....hope this info helps and if so Please leave rating on this post and good luck..

may just be code for stay alive memory in system (battery removal)
or may be issus with engine sensor

Disconnect either of the battery posts from the battery for at least 15 minutes...reconnect...this will re-set the system, As this does not stay off, you will need a service engine code checked...performed free at most auto parts stores...Hope the reset stays clear:)

You shouldn't need to clear the engine codes after installing a new battery. If the light is on, after starting and driving the car 5times the light should go out. But if you want to reset the engine light then go to a part store and buy a scan-tool. Actron is one company that is inexpensive. Look them up first (Google it) and decide what you want to spend verses what you want it to do.

You have to get the coeds cleared by a garage .

Probably the dealer will reset the system it for free.

Sometimes disconnecting the battery for a few minutes will reset the check engine light. Make sure you have the correct radio code before doing this or your radio will not work after disconnecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery and you will LOSE ALL codes, not reset them.
