Overheating warning came one 3 days ago, checked and replaced thermostat as the seal was broken, tested it today and the warning can on again. water pipes isnt as hot as they should be. HELP Please!!
Sounds like your new thermostat is sticking,They can be put in upside down. give it the stove and hot water test. It should show the valve opening about 72degrees Do not go above 80 degrees you'll cook it.

When compares with the various other sorts of vehicles, the majority of Citroen C2 cost is really a small fortune. You know the feeling if your car has been running ...
Diesel or petrol?
If it has overheated in diesel too expensive - replace with 2nd hand motor
If petrol sometimes heads warp and can be replaced but pistons may need to be replaced as well.
If camshaft belt breaks it is rare to take out all cylinders, sounds more like severe overheating. if so pistons usually seize then let go but rings remain in grooves letting compression into sump and blows oil out extremities like timing case and rear main seal at gearbox . Can be tested by pouring 25mm of engine oil in cylinder then re-testing compression> if rings compression will increase. If valves the compression will not change. Good luck
diesels over heat from several things
1-- cooling system problems -- thermostat, fan clutch blocked radiator cores, head gasket
2-- fuel injection timing-- too far advanced
3--over fueling-- fuel control module -- faulty injectors --leaking seals
4--- dragging brakes
A simple test on the fan hub is when the temp is high , if you can stop the fan rotation , the hub needs replacing but as you have speed , the fan will not be operational as the wind speed through the radiator will overcome the fan requirement so that comes back to coolant flow
Blocked cores or core fin flaking off are problems here
lastly is the injection timing and rate of fuel flow are serious so I would suggest that you take it to a cummins specialist shop and have the fault codes read first as it could be a problem crank position sensor or injection timing control sensor
have you tried to check overheat gauge?? some temperature sensor? isn't that faulty?? I don't mean thermostat, but sensor...
is it really overheating, or gauge is showing overheating???
long time ago I had car that had same problem.... never overheated, but still signalized high temperature.....that time it was temperature sensor probably not compatible with correct one ....
Does the exhaust smell sweet -like ? Do you see steam after the warm-up period ? Its a Northstar engine ? That stuff doesn't just dissapear .. there something loosing it... How do you know theres no head issues ? Head gasket leaking into a cylinder, they are famous of that kinda stuff ...
check for a blown head gasket, do a compression test on all the cylinders, they should all check out to about the same , if 2 are off you have a bad gasket
if you get an overflow through the resevior it's often times because the thermostat with stick shut causeing excess pressure. seeing is the car is not overheating this means that the trhermostat is opening but when you get that overflow it's sticking i would replace the thermostat as soon as possible to resolve this issue
