SOURCE: what does a P0650 code mean?

I believe it's a warning light malfunction. In other words, have it scanned and see if any codes come up. There is conflicting reports but basically your vehicle is trying to tell you something by way of a warning light on dash, that's not working.

SOURCE: abs and traction control light faults after a brake job. 2005 Pontiac grand prix

You have a bad sensor at one of the tires that need replacing that operates ABS and traction control. If you take it in to a shop it will run $130 but they can find which sensor is causing the problem. But if you do it you might have to replace all 4 sensors to make sure you got the right one. Every hard to diagnoses. Its better for the shop cause they can get electrical read outs for each sensor.

SOURCE: 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 6 Cyl - Cooling Fan Not Operating

the fan motor could just be bad, you can test this by removing the fan and connecting a wire to each terminal and to a battery. the wires hooked up one way will spin the fan and the other way will spin the fan backwards so you cant hook it up wrong. I hope that helps you out!

Leaks get worse when engine is at operating temp and pressure builds. Rent a cooling system pressure tester and pressurize the system. Then you'll see the leak

Sounds like you have air in the system. Look for an air bleeder near the thermostat on the black steel coolant hose. It will take some experimenting and patience to get the air out but it will happen.

Is there a specific type of engine coolant for my 2005 grand prix? My mechanic says my coolant needs to be flushed and replaced with the proper type of coolant. There is no rust in my coolant.

Hello restrada.

Your Pontiac original specification calls for Dexcool coolant.
This is an orange colored fluid.
If the green regular type has been added the system should be flushed and refilled with Dexcool.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Drain the coolant, remove the hose, take it to your parts store and match it up, reassemble and fill with coolant. Make sure you get the cooling system full.

2005 Grand Prix heater works fine when blower is off-air coming thru vent gets hot; once blower is turned on air turns cold. Why?

Sounds like a clogged heater core- insufficient coolant circulating through heater core, and as soon as you blow air past the core, it get cooled off.

Is there a special way to add coolant to the Grand PRix

I assume it's a V6, I know from working on Fords and when we would refill the radiator on a V6, we would take the upper hose loose from the radiator and back fill it that way. Hope this helps
