Simple steps to replace the Valve Cover Gaskets on a Jaguar XJ8?

Replace the valve cover gasket if the valve cover gaskets are leaking or if they're worn. The procedure is as follows:--
1)First carefully remove the nuts holding the valve cover to the engine head.2
2)Then pull the valve cover off from the engine head .
3)You can use flat-tip screwdriver to remove the valve cover.
4)It will be very dirty inside so you will have to clean the mating surfaces on both the engine head and the valve cover.
5)Take your time and clean it completely.

6)You can use a bead of RTV sealant on both mating surfaces.

7)Then carefully seat the gasket to top of the engine head.
8)The gasket can only be fitted in one way. So fit it properely.
9)Then tightly Press the valve cover to the gasket
10)And tighten the valve cover nuts secure.

This will help.Good Luck.

Valve cover leaks

Try replacing the valve cover gasket. If the valve cover gasket still leaks oil after replacement try adding standard 1/4 lock washers to the top of the valve cover bolts. I have a 2005 Suzuki Reno and had to replace the valve cover gasket several times. Adding the washers tightened the seal of the gasket and prevented any leaking,

How to replace valve cover gasket 1998 chevy malibu

The first step is to remove all the parts that are in the way of you being able to remove the valve covers. (Ex.: air intake, loose wires etc.) Then you will need to remove your valve covers (using basic tools) and be very careful to not let anything get on your lifters, which your valve covers protect. Once you have the valve covers off compare the new gaskets to make sure they are the right size. Then remove the old gasket and replace with the new one using a high temp gasket sealant (available at any auto parts store) to attach the gasket to the valve covers. Then tighten down snug and check for leaks after replaced.

Valve cover gasket leaking

When you buy the valve cover set, it will include the spark plug well "O" rings. Simply remove the valve cover and on the underside of the valve cover, you'll see the "O" rings that need replaced and you'll see exactly how the valve cover gasket itself fits.

I need to replace the valve cover gasket on my voltswagon jetta

you probably mean the valve head gasket.

In this case this is serious work and you should contact a local VW dealership or mechanic and have them do this work for you to insure a job well done. If you simply mean your Valve cover, then this is no big deal and can be done by taking out the 4 screws found at the corners of the valve cover and then simply lifting the cover free and replacing it with a new one/tightening the screws back down.

hope this helps :)
