We acquired a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GT. I want to replace the belts. Does it have 1 belt or 2?

We have a 2005 Elantra that we got because it was my now deceased mother-in-laws car and I want to change belts. I wanted to know how many? is it 1 for alternator and 1 for a/c belt?

Is there a "window" on the 2003 Hyundai elantra where you can see the condition of the timing belt?

The top portion of the timing belt cover is removable so you can inspect the belt. You should be able to remove 2 or 4 10mm head bolts ant take the top of the cover off.

Hyundai Elantra 1999 timing issue

It's a '99 Elantra, have you ever replaced the timing belt? It is a belt not a chaing, so it is very much should have the belt changed. After 13 years if you haven't done the belt yet now appears to be the time to change. I have an '05 and we changed it over a year now.

Good luck!!

Im replacing timing belt, accessory belts and water pump on my hyundai elantra gls 1997 sta wgn auto transmission. (1)Where is bolt to drain engine block coolant?(2)After removing front engine mountin

(1) No need to know if engine block coolant drain plug was available. Once the water pump was removed, all engine block coolant was drained. (2) After removing the three engine mounting bracket bolts, I also removed the mount bracket from the the body and made enough room to replace the timing belt easier.

Changing belts

Air conditioning system Drive Belt (INSPECTION) Deflection : Used belt : 6.0~7.0mm (0.24~0.28 in.) New belt : 5.0~5.5mm (0.20~0.22 in.)
6f4a2c5.gif NOTE These items when adjusting belt tension : If there are cracks or any damage evident on the belt, replace it with a new one. "Used belt" means a belt which has been used for five minutes or more. "New belt" means a belt which has been used for less than five minutes.

ADJUSTMENT 1. Loosen the tension mounting bolt(B). 2. Turn the adjusting bolt(C) to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the mounting bolt. 3. Recheck the deflection of the drive belt.
