SOURCE: 1999 Dodge Durango. Brake Light and the ABS Light

If you backup lights are not working as well, I would say check the fuse for the backup lights, if the fuse is good, see if you are getting power to that fuse. We had this problem and after weeks of searching and changing sensors, we found the backup light fuse was good, but not getting power. Ran a wire from that fuse to the cig. lighter fuse and all woprksf great.

there is an ABS sensor on top of the rear axle, and they are known to cause these symptoms-check the wiring, connector, and replace it if necessary, they are about $30 and is held in place with one bolt.

1999 Dodge Ram ?electrical problem?

Sounds like your speed sensor on the rear end. Could just be a loose connection check the harness is securely pluged into to sensor. I know on my 02 ram I have abs sensors that go in to my hub bearings, if you have this that could also be your problem. when i installed my new hubs I bent the tab on the connector to far and my light came on and off during driving. I had to tap down my connector.

1998 dodge ram 2500, speedometer does not work

Have the system scanned for fault codes, I think you may have a defective VSS (vehicle speed sensor), but don't replace it before you have the fault code test run, a defective computer and or wiring to the VSS can also cause the same problems.

1999 4x4 dodge ram abs light &brake light has been on about a week. brake fluid &brakes are good. any suggestions

If you lose the speedometer, replace the rear differential speed sensor on top. If the speedo is ok, then it's your ABS pump/solenoid unit in the engine compartment left rear side. Most of the 99's have only the rear ABS, not front so don't look at the front brakes for the issue.

Does the speedometer work? Out might have a bad speed sensor in the rear axle. Did you have it scanned for codes?

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, ABS & brake indicator

These are extremely complex systems and more likley than not, there is nothing wrong with the abs system. If you don't feel a pulsing force against your braking foot pedal, than you've got nothing to worry about than getting the dealer to clear the code in the abs control box. Again, if you feel NO changes in your braking system what probably happened is when you hit the bump/pothole one of your wheels went slightly faster than the one opposite it and the abs kicked in for a split second therefore storing a code.

You must have ripped the wires off underneath your truck, and you probably don't have brake lights anymore either. Better get somebody to repair it as soon as you can.
