Toyota hilux 1996 how do u knw if yr stuck in 4wd an the 4wd lite aint on

Hi Have a look at lineage on the transmission.

Check 4wd linkage stuck

Has the Transfer case fluid ever been replaced/changed? If not do so it may be sticking from dirty fluid.

check power to brake light switch. if no power then try to trouble shoot and restore power to brake light pedal switch

You should be able to hear to front differential whine and notice a change in performance, especially at low speed. I assume the selector is in 2WD. I suspect that there is a switch associated with the linkage - you may be able to find a diagram on line. Try replacing the light but if the light is OK (check with an ohm meter) the switch may be bad.

Transmission is out,will need to replace or have rebuilt. This is common when they go out. Sooner ar later the other gears will go out also.....hope this info helps and please rate this post if helpful....

i have a 1992 hilux surf import turbo diesel and my head lights go on but no dash lights indicators work fuses keep blowing what does this mean??

check the plugs on the front diff or on the back of the transfur case there will be a solenoid in one of these plases and it may need freeing up
