First thought is fill tube vent hose. Just remember, if you check it, that it is full of gas vapors, which explode by design. Stay alive and unscorched.

Some vehicles, if you top off the tank after the fill valve clicks off, have a tendency to have issues with the evap system properly venting the tank. This can cause starting issues. It is also possible that you may be having issues with the fuel pump, as the fuel coming from the underground tank will be in most cases colder than the fuel in the tank, although this is not as likely. problem with the purge canister it's under the car on the rear that is connected to the filling hoses big problem with those cars. i just installed a new tank new hoses but put a second hand purge unit and my 2005 echo is spitting back and hard to fill. good luck
Hello: This code indicates a problem with the evap system vent valve. A stuck closed vent valve will affect the fueling, if air can,t get out of the tank while fueling you will have a hard time filling the tank. You didn't say what year/model you have so the valve may be near the fuel tank or inside the tank. This problem should not affect fuel mileage.
you should first test the computer system for trouble codes.you may have overfilled the gas tank and flooded the carbon canister that holds the gas fumes from the tank, i would look for trouble codes first though,as filling the tank and the problem ocurring after that may only be coinsidental, this would be hard for you to diagnos anyway.
not so much a common problem as it is just! a problem go to a local salvage yard and buy a new filler neck and install it!! its really simple just take the 4-5 screws out of the top filler housing and take a hose clamp off the vent house underneath and then wiggle/pull REALLY!! hard outwards on the neck till it comes out of the tank
