The air conditioning only blows hot air, and you can hear the air leak every second, or so.

low Freon sometimes the front seal on ac compressor goes bad take it to a shop they should have a leak censer to find the leak

probably the evaporator core under the dash leaking

sounds like the clutch in the pully is going bad if the clutch goes out it could lock ur motor up or just lock up and shred ur serpintine belt

Have the system charge checked, it is very likely low, if it is you have a leak.

First things first.....You must have the air conditioning system hooked up to an a/c system machine and then checked for leaks and also read low and high side pressures. If there are leaks then low Freon (R134a) content and low refrigerant oil can cause the a/c system to not engage the a/c compressor which basically means you will not have proper defrost functionality nor regular air conditioning. Most shops, when working with your air conditioning, will install air conditioning dye to assist them in locating leaks and is the first step in diagnosing all a/c systems. problem one the blower positions first it could be the blower resistor or possibly the switch second problem no cool air there is a heater shut off valve under the dash on the right side of the radio if you change the temp control from cold to hot and hot to cold and hear a clicking ,grinding noise this valve is bad and not shutting off the hot air to the system making your a/c feel warmer , or a/c system has a leak somwhere and will have to be recharged and traced to repair it

Do you mean it takes a while to blow air or cold air? I am going to assume you mean cold air. Sometimes it can take a few seconds for the refrigerant to get up to speed. Especially when real hot outside. If the air is not getting cold for a long time you may have a leak. Refrigerant systems are sealed and in theory, with no leak, will always blow cold. Before you charge the coolant in your system fix the leak first or you are wasting your money. If this does not answer your question please be a bit more specific. Good luck.

If you were low on freon before, It's possible you have a leak in your system. If you take it back, have them check for the leak before they let you drive off with another freon loss.

Is there air blowing from the front vents? or can you hear the vacumm change when you change it from heat to cool..... I think it might be a vacumm problem... its a 1997 so the controller vacumm hoses may be cracking.. let us know

Sounds like your freon has leaked out and your heater blower resistor is burned out. Deffinitly take this to the dealer.
