older nissan? evap canister purge fault. check for loose or rotten/disconnected vacuum hoses before testing the vapor canister purge valve.
The charcoal canisters also clog up. Do some diagnosing before you go changing parts.

clean out the drain under the windscreen and ensure that the drain hoses down inside the mudguards are not blocked . ON the dash controls close the vent to recirculate the cab air and not allow fresh air into the cab.

If you have a sunroof, that may be your issue. I had a similiar problem when it would rain. After a good rain, water would pour from my front side pillars when making turns, which allowed me to see how water got on the floor.

SOLUTION:
1. Open sunroof, stand up so you can fully see sunroof tracks.
2. In the right/left front corners of the the sunroof tracks are small vent holes (locate them). All sunroofs have these holes in the event of minimal water leakage.
3. Take a 2-3 ft strand of solid wire approx 18ga, insert into vent holes to clear out any type of debris, or build-up. (the dealer wants to charge you $$$ to send your vehicle to another facility to do water test for leakage)
4. Last, take a decent sized squeezable cup filled with hot water (not too hot to hold cup), enough to slowly pour is into sunroof track/vent holes. This will ensure you actually pushed any debris down the vent tubing.
5. If you cleared any build-up from the vent holes, you should see water puddles on the ground, or just have someone watch for leakage near the back of the front wheel well.

Hope it works, I performed this same manuever on my wifes 2009 Jeep Patriot, and filled some corner gaps in the tracking with silicon ($2.89 small tube), when the dealer wanted $150 for leak diagnostics. "Really"

It sounds as if the drain line from the vent is plugged. You'll need to get under the car (jack stands please ) to locate. In your forward vent where air comes in for your AC or just Vent rain will obviously get in to it. There is a drain hole at the bottom of this to allow water to flow out. With time from dead bugs, leaves, road dirt... this vent can plug. Under the car locate this vent line, place a small wire up within it to remove the blockage. After doing you may want to both test and flush by use of a garden hose. If there is a lot of accumulated debris it might plug back right away and you'll have to clear again.

the vents are there to relieve pressure inside the cab when you close your doors. i suppose they could leak water if they're comming off since there is only a piece of rubber seperating the inside and outside

Easy to fix. Remove trunk liner or peel back on passenger side. Squeeze tabs that hold in the vent housing and push out. You have to loosen the bumper panel over in the wheel well area. This is just two bolts that take a 10 mm wrench and a plastic body clip. Remove vent from outside of car. Take off old gasket and throw away. Clean vent and metal around where vent goes completely with lacquer thinner. Use a product such as Lexel to caulk around where gasket used to be. Be liberal with caulking, it all covers. Reinstall vent and other parts in reverse order. Poblem solved. One hour to do and no special tools required.

Sounds like you have a drain blocked in the vent just under the wipers, take the vent cover off and look for the drain hole, if you park it anywhere near a tree this is probably the problem. Try to create the problem by pouring lots of water down the vents and see if it sloshes around. finding the drain can be a pain.
