How do I get the service engine soon light to go out

The "Service Engine Soon" comes on when the ECM receives information from the engines sensors that exceeds normal acceptable operating parameters. The ECM will store a code (or codes) indicating which system(s) are out of tolerance and light the "Service Engine Soon" lamp. The technician will read the codes, diagnose and repair the condition(s), and reset the "Service Engine Soon" lamp. The lamp does NOT go out on its own (in most cases), once repairs are made. There is a scan tool that is used to clear the stored codes that allows the lamp to go out. It is therefore possible that you may already have fixed the condition that set your light to on. Or not. The whole purpose of the lamp was to help avoid the kind of "hit and miss" repair methodology that you have employed so far. Many feel the need to try this as they fear the costs of a professional mechanic reading the codes and the cost of repairs. Fortunately, there are less costly options available. Many of the large auto parts chains will read the "Service Engine Soon" codes for you at no cost. They will tell you what codes are present and you can decide if you (or someone you know) can perform repairs or if you need a pro to check things out. They do NOT, normally, perform resets of the lamp as this has potential liability issues for them. If you need the lamp reset after repairs are made, you have two options; pay the pro, or buy a scan tool that has the ability to reset the light. Not all do. The cheaper units are only code READERS. Be careful when you buy. But if you watch for sales, you can usually get a low-cost scan tools that can read and reset codes for around $40.00. Good luck.

P-205 trouble code

Cylinder 5 Injector Circuit Malfunction
What does that mean? P0205 means that the PCM detected a fault in the injector or the wiring to the injector. It monitors the injector and when the injector is activated, the PCM expects to see the voltage pulled "low" or close to zero.

How do you reset the check engine light on a 2007 mitsibishi galant?

You hook up a code scanner and press the reset code function or you can disconnect and reconnect your battery. If there is something which is at fault after codes are cleared engine light will come back on and you should get codes checked. Most parts stores will check for you for free but their level of mechanical expertise can very drastically so check back here with trouble codes which you can't determine for further help

I was giventhese codes by pep boys in regards to my chy 20001 town and country.....p605 and p700 is this expense ... i heard they just have to reset it .....

P0700 Code - Tranny Troubles, is just an information code, and it is that TCM have codes and requested check engine light on tranny repair shop to get the TCM codes. They should point to what is the problem. It may be solenoid pack, speed sensor, or it might be more complicated, and they can give you a price once they finds the internal issue, and it cost $400, only to see inside, and find the problem. Parts and labor for repair EXTRA.
So try to clear the code with a code scanner, or disconnecting the battery for about 30 MINUTES.
If the light and code will come back then you have to see a transmission repair shop. Hope this will help you.

What meas abs light in the panel and how to fix

The ABS (anti-lock brake system) light comes on because the computer has detected a problem and set a code. The code will stay in the computer even if the light goes out. You need to have the system Scanned for codes. Once the cause of the code has been repaired the light can be shut off by clearing the code.
Most auto repair shops will have Scanners and all the equipment to Diagnose and repair the problem. And, Most auto parts stores can plug in a diagnostic scanning device into your vehicle to read the trouble codes at no cost if you purchase the parts necessary to repair the vehicle from them. The trouble codes can tell you THE AREA where the problem is with your ABS system. So it's wise to have a Tech check that circuit to isolate what the problem actually is.
In order to reset this light you need to have access to a Scan tool that does more than just read the codes. Other diagnostic equipment may be needed as well.

I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon XL - the engine sign is on for a while...the mechanic says it will cost $300 - it's the oxygen sensor...is it right?(He says that after replacing I have to do 50 miles...then...

If the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced, the light needs to be reset at the time of repair.

If your mechanic does not have the equipment to reset the light, he can not accurately diagnose the light either and is likely just guessing.

Find a new mechanic, this guy smells like trouble.

Check engine light came on.

Go to your local discount store and pick up an OBD II auto trouble code reader it'll cost around $50.00 depending on where you go. Make sure you read the package and that it says the reader can "clear" trouble codes. Follow the readers directions but be sure to check your current code to make sure you haven't developed a new problem. Also, some auto part stores will read your trouble code and reset it for free, you'll just need to check around in your local area.

1996 ford explorer

Actually, when the O/D light is flashing, the vehicle is indicating a problem within that specific system. When this happens with any system on the vehicle,a diagnostic trouble code is set in the vehicle computer's memory. What you did by disconnecting the battery was simply to erase the trouble code from the computer's memory. If the transmission feels like it is slipping,it probably is,and that's where the problem will be.You can drive the vehicle, and the code will reset again sooner or later,as will the O/D light flashing.Have the vehicle scanned when the code resets, try not to drive it very hard, because if the trans is slipping, driving it will worsen the damage/cost to repair.
