power steering indicator still on. ??????? Did you check for codes ? Power asst replace ?????? Electric motor under the dash below the steering column ? Control module ??? Was it programmed ? Who replaced the power asst ????
could have electronic steering wheel code .have code retrieve. if your steering is a electronic one. if it with power steering with oil it's different.
If the wheels are turn to one direction or the other, then take one hand and turn the steering wheel in that direction and turn the key a the same time. If that doesn't do it then you may have a bad ignition cylinder.
Good luck
My 2004 Saturn Vue had the same problem. I thought the ignition had to be changed and I drove the Vue a long time with the key hard to turn and pushing it in before turning it. I mentioned it to a Saturn Dealer mechanic while having warranty work done. He told me a new key had to be made using the key code (located on the inside panel on the driver door). They made it and it totally fixed the problem. I think any GM dealer can do that for you.
Has anyone gave Saturn any hard time over this power steering issue yet? Looks to me like this is a very WELL KNOWN problem for Saturn's but nothing's been done to solve it. Even newer Saturns have this problem, especially just when the car's out of the lousy warranty that we have.
Someone's got to take action, may be a sour law suit would do the job.
Plastic actuator/rod/steering column repair It cost about 200.00 at the ford dealership, and i got the same problem...i looked under the steering colum and saw the actuator was moving down but not back up so it broke. its plastic so and im not going to chance taking the steering wheel off myself with my tilt steering and airbag. Good luck!
