The fluid level should always be at the high mark and if it starts to go down then the float activates the light before it becomes vital to refill the reservoir . This check should be part of your weekly pre-start check to ensure that you are not held up at an inconvenient time and place..

SOURCE: 3.1L Automatic transmission shudders/slips until about 50MPH.

This could be that you have a freighed belt inside the transmission or that maybe something is loose.

Check to see if your car smokes when you rev it up. If so, my mother's Oldsmobile had a similar problem. A couple of Spark Plugs came loose. It made a sound and drove just like what you are describing. Try checking the spark plugs and make sure they are tight. As for that, one can only assume that the trans is having the problem. For 180 dollars and about 4 hours of work you can get a new transmission for the car using a site you can find on Google.

Or you can have it rebuilt for 700 dollars through a mechanic. But I would suggest checking possible causes by researching online before taking drastic measures.

SOURCE: Brake light on the dash has just come on

How low is the fluid level ? When disc brake pads wear , the master cylinder fluid levels drop normally. Brake operation will usually remain rather consistant , Most brake pads have warning sensors that squeal when your foot is off the brake pedal. have the brakes physically inspected. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: low oil level light

When going around the corner it could have possibly moved the oil far enough away from the level that it's reading was low going around the corner but then getting on to a level surface evened it out. You shouldn't have checked it immediately when you got home. Wait until the engine cools down then check it,

Good Luck...

On my 2008 ford escape, there is a light on my dashboard that keeps coming on. it looks like a box with an exclamation mark in the middle. i dont know what that means. im wondering if i need a tune up or...

Brake warning light.

If the light is on all the time, it could mean you simply forgot to release the parking (emergency) brake. The brake warning light remains on when the brake is set as a reminder. If the brake warning light remains on when the parking brake is released, then something is amiss.
In some cases, the brake warning light may remain on if the switch on the parking brake pedal or lever is misadjusted. Nothing is wrong with the brakes and a simple adjustment should fix the problem.
If the brake warning light comes on when you apply the brakes, or is on continuously, it means that hydraulic pressure has been lost in one side of the brake system or that the fluid level in the master cylinder is dangerously low (due to a leak somewhere in the brake system). In either case, the fluid level in the master cylinder should be checked. Adding brake fluid to the master cylinder reservoir may temporarily solve the problem. But if there's a leak, the new fluid will soon be lost and the warning light will come back on.

A light like a small light bulb light up when the brakes are push

a warning light like that is normally one of 3 things. all fairly easy to sort out,
1.
blown bulb on brake lights. check and replace bulbs as needed.

2.
low brake fluid level in reservour. check fluid in reservour is up to the maximum mark/line and fill if needed.

3.
the brake pads have worn down to the minimum thickness and need changing.

Park break light stays on sometimes

Check the parking brake light switch which is located under the center module, remove the cover around the parking brake and you'll find it there.

I have a light that has come on one my van its flashing it looks like a question mark with a circle around it. 2004 ford freestar SE van

Could it be an exclamation (!) in a circle? If it is, that is the warning light for your brake system. Check the fluid level at the master cylinder, add if needed, and check for brake fluid leakage under the car. Be careful, as you may lose your brakes if the fluid level drops too low. If this is NOT the symbol you see, let me know, I'll try to find another explanation for it. If it is a ? inside a cutaway of a tire, (kind of a 'U' shape with a question mark in it) it is your tire pressure monitoring system warning of low tire pressure in one or more tires.

Red brake light flashing periodically - ??

Often this is because the brake fluid level is low. There is a sensor in the brake fluid reservoir that turns on the dash warning light when it does not sense enough fluid. You can visually check the brake fluid reservoir by looking at the reservoir under the hood. There are marks on the reservoir to show the correct level. If the fluid is low, this means that one of your brake system components is leaking fluid and needs to be replaced or repaired. If the fluid level is ok, possibly there could be air bubbles in the system, and it needs to be bled. If bleeding does not solve the problem, it could mean that the master cylinder is not holding pressure. If the brake pedal is spongy but it becomes firm after a few pumps, usually this means air in the system. If it stays spongy after pumping, and sinks continually when you press it, probably the master cylinder needs to be checked.

Red brake warning light is coming on randomly, only stays on briefly, but has never come on before. it started yesterday, wonder if it's at all weather related as it's been bitterly cold? do I need to get...

Have your brakes check out, could be getting low on brake pads or shoes, which will make your brake fluid get low, to make up for the space of wear of your brake pads or shoes, check and fill your master cylinder to the max level mark.Being that the brake fluid is low the sensor in the master cylinder will make the warning light come on.Fill and have your brakes checked.

The parking brake light is on and the parking

hi from uk if as you say the brake fluid level is slightly above min ? then this is most probably the reason the warning light is on this light is also linked to both park brake when on and a visual warning via a sensor on the reservoir that brake fluid is low top reservoir up ? light should/will go off however! fluid level drops for two reasons = 1 fluid leak on b/system 2 or in your case the fluid level has dropped by displacement from reservoir to brake calipers/cylinders as the brake pads and/or shoes wear down to minimum safe thickness ? and if your car has brake pads wear indicators fitted to pads these sensors will put light on SO may i suggest you check your brake pads/shoes ASAP because if pads/shoes are very low ? you may not only damage the more expensive disc/rotors but pads may/will burn up resulting in brake failure with obvious results ? hope you heed this advice? it is for your safety and other drivers best wishes

What does warning light mean?

Usually means that there is a problem with your braking system. Note that brake fluid is HIGHLY TOXIC so please be careful when handling it. Check the brake fluid level in the engine bay brake fluid reservoir to ensure that its upper level falls between the MIN / MAX marks. If it is below the MIN level in the try topping it up to the MAX mark with the appropriate rating of brake fluid, but as there may be air in the braking system ideally you should arrange for the car to be transported to a garage to have your braking system checked and the brakes bled. There may be a hydraulic fluid leak in your braking system somewhere along its length (park the car on a dry level parking area and look to see if any 'wet' marks appear on the tarmac - this is a distinct possibility if the brake fluid level in the reservoir is lower than the MIN level. Look for unexpected wetness on (a) the inside of the road wheels, or brake cylinders (any wetness found could indicate damaged seals in the brake calipers or cylinders) and (b) along the length of the brake pipes and at any of the junctions of the Master Cylinder.

Brake light on the dash has just come on

If your brake fluid is down it will cause the brake light to come on. If you fill the brake reservior, the light should go out. If it does then you should have the brakes checked for wear. As the brakes wear the fluid follows behind to fill the gap, thus low fluid. Let me know if this helped. Moe

Mini cooper Warning lights for abs, low tire, traction comes on

Ok, check the brake fluid level for a start. This could mean a few things. Your brake pads might be worn down, which would bring a yellow warning light on(triangle), at the same time with the pads being low it will have displaced the fluid, making the level low, this would be a red light on. Now because of this the body control module has detected these faults, will have turned the abs off, hence the abs light.
If brake fluid is low, this could confirm my theory.
If its low, top up with dot 5 brake fluid and take to garage to have new pads fitted.
