SOURCE: how to replace rear wheel bearing on driver side
You have a bearing hub (sealed unit) To remove it, first remove the nut from the axle in the hub center, Remove caliper and brake rotor. You can access the hub attachment bolts through the holes in the wheel flange. You may need to put a chisel between the hub and knuckle (keep alternating sides) to break it free (they generally get pretty rusted in) use a good amount of solvent. Once it's out, clean the cavity and put a swipe of grease inside so new one goes in more easily. draw it tight evenly and replace remainder of what you removed. If it is extremely rusted you can rent a slide hammer to get it out but generally with a bit of patience they do break free.

its not hard but you do have to remove diff cover and then take out spider shaft to remove clips that hold axle. then remove bearing with slide hammer or puller. if bearings are bad so is the axle because its part of the bearing
SOURCE: replace rear brake pads 2006 Chevy Impala
Hello, to replace the rear brake pads follow the following steps:
1. Lift the Chevy Impala with the jack and place it on jack stands.
2. Remove the wheels with a lug-nut wrench and set them aside. The lug-nut wrench can be found in the trunk of your Chevy Impala.
3. Remove the caliper with a ratchet and use a bungee cord to hang the caliper. Do not let the caliper hang from the brake hose, as the hose might break and cause fluid to leak.
4. Remove the brake caliper bracket from the steering knuckle with a ratchet. Set it aside.
5. Remove the break rotor from the hub. The rotor might require force to be removed; if it does, use a hammer to hit the rotor in the center, where the lug studs are located. Take care not to hit the studs.
6. Remove the new rotor from its packaging and use brake cleaner to remove the grease from the rotor. Grease is applied on the rotor in the factory to inhibit rust during storage.
7. Install the new rotor onto the hub.
8. Install the caliper bracket with new brake pads onto the rotor and fasten it to the steering knuckle. Use a ratchet to tighten the bolts.
9. Open the master cylinder reservoir so you don't break a seal while compressing the brake caliper.
10. Compress the brake caliper with a C-clamp, so that the caliper can fit over the new brake pads. Install the caliper by securing it to the brake caliper bracket with a ratchet.
Thanks
SOURCE: The shift lever is locked
Take a look and see if the brake lights are working, the power to release the shift lock comes from the brake switch when you step on the brake the shifter is unlocked. i had a few of these that needed new brake light switches, first try starting the car and stepping on the brake pedal as hard as you can and then try shifting,if this works replace brak switch, next if that doesnt work check the brake light to see if they work if not or if so check all fuses even under the hood fuse box, hope this helps. here a picture of the shift release soleniod it on the steering column, dissconnect and slide by hand to release shifter until repaired.

The wheel bearing is in the hub assembly that comes with the ABS/wheel speed sensor as one unit. No specialty tools required. 13mm, 10mm, 3/8" ratchet 4" ext 6" ext short metal tube that slides over ratchet handle for leverage or breaker bar, T-30 torx bit, 8"standard screwdriver, WD-40, 4-Way lug wrench, floor jack and jack stands, heavy duty hammer and 6" chisel to separate the hub from axle once all bolts are removed, CAREFULLY AND PRECISELY HIT CHISEL ALL THE WAY AROUND THE MATING SURFACES AS YOU SEE IT START TO SEPARATE. Put a little grease in hole where assembly goes after you clean it out for easier fit. Pay attention closely as to how backing plate, e-brake cable/spring pin/piston bracket all came apart as well as e-brake horseshoe for easier re-installation.
