The DVD player will not drain the battery, period.

there is a connection that can be connected to your radio input if you have one, if not you can use the same phono output from the dvd player (its marked) and get a unit that fits in between your antenna lead and the radio that allows you to tune to a frequency and hear your dvd sound through your radio speaker system. (available from ebay)

Put the DVD player back in or replace it. They are interconnected. One won't work without the other...

Is it possible that it is not getting power?
Check fuses and also you could use a voltmeter to see if there is power.

Same thing happened to me. My DVD player stopped working and the 15A fuse for Power 1 kept blowing. Turns out that there was a little metal ring that had fallen into my powerpoint connection on the dash. It was shorting out my DVD player. Removed the ring, installed a new fuse and DVD player is back up and running.

fuse should be on the line coming from the dvd player going to the power source into the car or at your fusre box

You put the radio on 88.3 FM and the sound comes through the stero.

Can you please watch your manual for DVD speed. Mostly are 4X- 16X spped dvd we r using these days. Chances of your dvd player support 4X speed dvd and your DVD may be 16X or above. Thats why i suggest you please view the manual and your DVD.
If that all are fine then use dvd player cleaner Disk for cleaning your system. If you didn't get good reply then please visit service center. Thx.
