Hey check ur abs wheel speed sensors. check data when ur moving lf rf and rears should be reading same speed. its probably gonna be a bad wheel bearing cause that where ur speed sensors are built in to. u need a abs scan tool to monitor ur wheel speed parameters in order to pin point ur bad sensor. or pull codes from ur abs module and see what side it says is failing. good luck

SOURCE: no brake lights

Took my Trailblazer to dealership. They replaced both rear tail light socket boards (these are plastic parts that house all of the rear lamps/bulbs and attach to tail light housing) They advised the sockets in the boards have a tendency to go bad. Everything works just fine. Cost of each part was approximately $29.00. Easy to replace yourself and save the labor.

SOURCE: Does my truck have abs brakes? It is 4x4 1992 chevy 1500

Your truck is equipped with RWAL or rear wheel anti-lock. This just worked on the rear brakes(duh) but the speed sensor was taken from the speedometer drive at the transmission tailshaft, and would allow one rear wheel to lock as long as the speedo kept turning. Later models were improved with wheel speed sensors at each wheel.

you may have air trapped in the ABS EHCU. Did you use this procedure?

Bleeding the EHCU

Bleeding the EHCU requires the use of the TECH-1 scanner or its equivalent and the appropriate cartridge. Additionally, 3 tools, J-39177 or equivalent, are required. Bleeding cannot be performed without this equipment.
The EHCU must be bled after replacement or if air is trapped within the unit. It must be bled after bleeding the master cylinder and before bleeding the individual wheel circuits.
The Internal Bleed Valves on either side of the unit must be opened 1 / 4 - 1 / 2 turn before bleeding begins. These valves open internal passages within the unit. Actual bleeding is performed at the two bleeders on the front of the EHCU module. The bleeders must not be opened when the system is not pressurized. The ignition switch must be OFF or false trouble codes may be set.

  1. Open the internal bleed valve 1 / 4 - 1 / 2 turn each.
  2. Install one tool J-39177 on the left bleed stem of the EHCU. Install one tool on the right bleed stem and install the third tool on the combination valve.
  3. Inspect the fluid level in the master cylinder, filling if needed.
  4. Slowly depress the brake pedal and hold it down.
  5. Open the left bleeder on the front of the unit. Allow fluid to flow until no air is seen or until the brake pedal bottoms.
  6. Close the left bleeder, then slowly release the pedal. Wait 15 seconds.
  7. Repeat Steps 4, 5 and 6, including the 15 second wait, until no air is seen in the fluid.
  8. Tighten the left internal bleed valve to 5 ft. lbs. (7 Nm).
  9. Repeat Steps 3-7 at the right bleeder on the front of the unit.
  10. When bleeding of the right port is complete, tighten the right internal bleed valve to 5 ft. lbs. (7 Nm).
  11. Remove the 3 special tools.
  12. Check the master cylinder fluid level, refilling as necessary.
  13. Bleed the individual brake circuits at each wheel.
  14. Switch the ignition ON . Use the hand scanner to perform 3 function tests on the system.
  15. Carefully test drive the vehicle at moderate speeds; check for proper pedal feel and brake operation. If any problem is noted in feel or function, repeat the entire bleeding procedure.

I have a 2001 gmc sonoma 4.3 replace brake lines on back i am not getting any fluid to rear wheels i tryed bleeding sys with help diconected abs sys to reset to defalt no abs light is on stumped

a special tool is required to hold the ABS hydraulic control unit popit valves open during bleeding of the brakes, without this special tool you will not be able to get the air out of the system, most good brake shops have this tool or of course the local Chevy dealer or GMC dealer. I am a dealer tech and know this information is correct..

F350 4x4 extend cab power stroke 107000 miles abs light on i replaced the front hubs wore out and new brakes but abs still on tks jerry

You can try to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and see if the ABS light clears. If not Autozone or Oreillys may have another scanner to fit the ABS diagnostic socket, a free test.

When you did the rear brakes, the emergency brakes inside the rear rotors can sometimes crumble. Need to clean sensors because dirt and brake debris will keep sensors from counting wheel revolutions.

You could also have a ABS diverter valve stuck and not centered. Sometimes its necessary to rebleed to center the part and clear the light.

1999 Suburban Chevy, Every time I press the brake pedel I can hear air comming from the rubber boot inside the cab. Is the brake booster gone/going bad?

Usually, a hissing noise when you press the brake pedal is indicative of a leaking brake booster, yes.

While sitting still, idling, have someone else push the brake and grab a piece of garden hose or something, hold it to your ear, and listen up under the dash to find out if the noise is actually coming from that area, or you could also just pinch the line with a pair of vice grips, and see if you still hear the noise.

Your brakes will not cease to function as a result of a booster leak, but if it fails completely, they will become substantially more difficult to use.

!988 k1500 4x4 5.7l brakes

Bleed right rear, left rear, right front, left front in that order to be sure of good bleed but the brake booster makes it easy to push pedal. Make sure of no leaks from master cylinder. Otherwise brake hoses being soft will also hurt baking quickly.
