sounds like an earth connection ,but where ,,,,back of dash,,,battery earth,,,ECU earth point ,,try putting a drop of oil on the earth points with a conventional oil can no sprays of crappy fish oil other than that you would have to wait for it to happen again in front of a mechinic to find it,.or trade it in for a nice europeon size car with a an engine under 1600cc .5litres is a bit obscene in this day and age and price of petrol

I had the same problem took it to the dealer and it was a sensor inside the transmission.

If your check engine light came on when the problem occurred, then you need to have the diagnostic codes read. I am cheap, so I would suggest going to an Advance or Auto Zone, they will read the codes and interpret them for you in hopes of selling you the part that will fix it. Good Luck. Yes sometimes diagnosis takes a while. They are most likely perfomring electrical tests o nthe rear axle coupler to see why its functioning incorrect. If I knoew the codes its storing I could help you

You shouldn't have taken the car back,nor should the shop given you the vehicle,if you were willing to have it properly repaired.
The MIL Light is an indication of an issue or two and you said it runs rough and has no power. What more does a shop need. Repair it.
Is the Fuel Filter fairly new
Did they Clean the MAF Sensor,and make sure your air filter cover is on correctly,and you have no vacuum leaks.
They can look at all sensor data and resolve this ,if they wanted to.
