The hood position sensor is probably defective which sometimes happens from age or just from opening and closing the hood, especially if the hood is slammed too hard. No matter what, it's not a difficult fix. The switch is located on the passenger side (left) latch and can be replaced in about 15 minutes or so once you have the part. Here is an excellent video on replacing it:
Replacing the LR3 and Range Rover Sport Hood Latch
Parts are readily available at Atlantic British and they are a great outfit to work with. You can, of course, get the part special order from your LR dealer.

Cheers.

Volvo xc60 hood light is on

The car needs to know the bonnet is closed and that is down to a switch that might be integrated into the bonnet catch or mounted on a bracket or ledge so the switch is opened (or closed) when the bonnet is shut.

A faulty switch, a damaged wire or a maladjustment would deprive the car of the knowledge the bonnet is closed and it would assume it is unlatched and switch on the warning light.

Warning light says the hood is open, but it's not.

I would replace the switch itself. It is likely dirty or faulty

The hood warning light stays on at all times and when I lock the car the alarm goes off 5 secinds later..what do I do to fix this..?

Try disconnecting the hood sensor. Now I can't remember if the sensor goes open when you open the hood or if it goes closed. Try by disconnecting it and see if the hood light goes out if not then jump the wires. The hood sensor is just a small pin under the hood. Looks like a door jam switch

Open Hood warning, and wiper blades.

There is a switch on your hood latch. They get damaged sometimes when the hood opens and closes. look down on the latch and you will see the sensor with an electrical plug. There are two 10mm bolts holding the latch in. remove them and the sensor is in the latch.

Smoke coming from exhaust pipe

It sounds like you have an oil leak. The head gasget may not be blown, but if there is a leak in the oil system the exaust will be smokey from burning the oil. Keep an eye on the oil level and it appears to be lower than normal, then thats probably the problem.
