If the guage needle does not move - the float on the fuel pump assembly is stuck - if it just reads the wrong level - the float arm could have gotten bent putting pump back in the tank

Bad sending unit on the aftermarket pump, (take it back and put in a new one, have had that happen) or could be a bad wire connection, thourougly check your wiring first. (Most aftermarket pumps require you splice in a new electrical connector, check them out good first)

SOURCE: gas guage not working on daughter's 1997 Buick

If the sensor wasn't attached to the fuel pump you may have wanted to check that before you put it back up. If the Sensor was attached to the Fuel pump then your next check is the fuses followed by testing the gauge itself.

Gas guage not working on daughter's 1997 Buick Lesabre - just replaced the fuel pump-should we have done something while the tank was off for the gas guage?

if you did nothing wrong replacing it then most likley the the level sensor is jammed. You will need to take the tank back out and inspect.

2001 Buick lesabre gas guage not working, heated seats not workin

I have a 2001 and just replaced the fuel pump assembly in the tank because the fuel gauge didn't work or worked irratic. After talking to the partsman it sounded like this was common. The contact for the sensor wears away and looses contact. You will see that the new fuel pump module has different type of metal wiper contact. As for the heated seats, I have an issue with driver side also and haven't had a chance to look into it yet.

My gas gage in my 1997 buick lasabre does not work. So I am unable to know if I need gas. What will it cost to repair

The gas tank will have to pulled out and the fuel guage sending unit replaced, they sell just the sender in the aftermarket, DORMAN Part # 692087 $115.00, the GM dealer sells only the entire module, $384.00, the labor is time around 2 hours.

1997 buick le sabre

its the electrical connection at he fuel pump,if this is ok ask if they replaced the strainer on your fuel pump, your fuel pump is inside your gas tank ,you have to drop the tank to service, most fuel pumps are not warrantied if you dont change the strainer, when your car shuts off the sediment on the strainer falls back into the tank, but when you run your car and it sucks up the gas thru the strainer to the pump it clogs the strainer and the fuel pump cant pump, you shoiuld find out if they changed this because your forcing your fuel pump to work harder, was it a new fuel tank or used one that they put in
