In most cases its a fuse and if Ac coolant is low it wont come on also. If it was working fine and just stop coming on tyhen more than likely its just a fuse...hope this helps and if so Please rate this post and good luck.

I wouldn't bypass the A/C Compressor

Why spend money,you don't have to?
you will need to recover 1st the freon in the vehicle , once that is done, you need to remove the drive belt to free up the AC pulley. once that is done, you will then need to remove the AC line manifold from the back of the AC Compressor. The AC manifold needs to be covered by a ZIP LOCK bag to not allow any moistutre in it. Remove bolts that hold down the AC Compressor and the electrical harness attacked to it.
