Could be trans throttle linkage, bands inside trans or clogged trans filter have these checked.

I have an 1993 Ford f250 supercab..auto tranny. My gearshifter has always been a little loose but the other day I guess it snapped somewhere underneath the dash up in the steering column. My gearshifter...

Under your dash attatched to the steering column is your shift tube, at the end is a ball that your linkage goes too, that part has 2 T25 torx screws holding it to the shift tube, those screws are notorious for comming loose

My gear shift i stuck in park

You can get it out of park as a temporary fix by popping off the little cover to the left of the gearshift, then pushing down on the lever beneath the cover with a flathead screwdriver (or skinny key) and then shifting out of park.

Gear knob feels if it has come detached from the the gearbox and only moves forward anbackwards but the car is stuck in gear

Hi
the gear linkage has either snapped or come off, you should be able to remove the leather gear gaiter from around the gear stick pull it up and look through the hole. you may have to get under the car to pop it back into place but if it has snapped then you need a new gear linkage, its not expensive and easy enough to fix.

Hope this helps

My Hyundai excel is stuck in 2nd gear and the gear stick just wobbles freely back and forth between 1st and 2nd gear positions, though wont move sideways at all. Can drive car no problem - but only...

Easy problem. Check your clutch fluid (it is most likely low) master cylinder on the front of the gearbox most likely has failed, causing you to try and put it in gear, but then you broke the shifter cable. Easy fix.

2001 Dodge grand caravan sport. Transmission slipping/ jerking. Seems to run only in second gear... still slips and jerks. Smells of burnt trans fluid and the level is low on the dipstick.

I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.
