My a/c was blowing cool air, but my brother added

I have a 1996 F350 crew cab dually. My a/c was blowing cool air, but my brother added freon to it and now it blows hot air. What could be wrong?

  • kdwalling Jun 30, 2009

The compressor is still turning over. My husband put freon in it and it ran cold for about 5 mins. He thought it could have a leak, but the a/c was working just fine before brother-in-law added freon. It blew hot air about an hour after that.

Sounds like he may have overcharged it and knocked the valves out of the compressor. Is it making any noises rattling and such? Does the compressor turn at all?

2009 chevy AVEO 5 ac blows hot air

The guage needs to read between 35/40 psi.. If its much higher you may be overfull, this causes it to not cool.. Fix by letting some freon out, then top it back to needed pressure.. If pressure is correct, it would be a clog in the system.. Usually an orafice tube or accumulator..good luck!

Overall height of 1985 f350 crew cab dually

I can't find anything on a F-350 crew cab, from 1985. According to www.Edmunds.com there is no such animal. The F-350 crew cab only goes to 1990. It could be an issue of the website not going back that far, too.

A/C blowing hot air 2000 CDX Daewoo

over filling it was a big mistake, so was guessing.
the freon is added by weight, from empty. not volume.
if the compressor spins, and no cold air , then its a big problem
the only tiny problem to cause this would be leaves packed in evaporator coil. (deep inside air box in cab)
take it to a shop before you damage the compression and fill the whole
thing full of metal chucks wrecking everything, at once $$$$
do not let the compressor run, if it dont get cold. do not.
get it serviced.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figure 1

Fig. Fig. 1: Plenum door vacuum motors

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the motor.
  2. Remove the 2 motor attaching screws.
  3. Rotate the assembly so that the slot in the bracket is parallel to the tee-shaped end of the door crank arm, and pull the motor and bracket off the crank arm.
  4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
--- Search for other vacuum motors under the dash to see if the vacuum hoses have somehow deteriorated or become detached. --- Try to look up your vehicle on autozone.com for other vacuum motors under the 'heater' section of the 'chassis electrical' section of the 'repair guide' after selecting your 1996 Ford f250 crew cab vehicle. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f8038ebd8

Air conditioning not blowing cool air

To get the refrigerant in you have to have a technician purge the system first. Hope that helps.
