Yes you do.

A restriction of freon is usually caused by a plugged orifice tube. Your A/C system is a sealed system, so if there are contaminates in the system that have plugged up the orifice tube there is only one source...the compressor. If you have to change the orifice tube, you have to plan on changing the compressor as well. It can't be long for this world.

If the air stops blowing from the vents, the problem is with the blower motor. If it doesn't come on, try slapping the motor with your hand. If it starts when slapped, replace the motor.

The compressor has nothing to do with the heater box blowing air. The compressor is used to 'compress' a gas and change it to liquid and back to gas, etc to produce cooling eg air conditioning. Your system is leaking gas and dye is sometimes the only way to find a small leak.

I have 2 ideas.

Idea 1: The clutch in your ac compressor could be out.

Idea 2: The ac compressor isn't getting any power. Use test lights on the connectors to the ac compressor to make sure it is getting power. (Test this before trying to change the ac compressor. It is way cheaper to fix a connection than to change the compressor.)

NOTE: ac compressor clutch is not available seperately for this car at discount auto parts stores.

maybe your freon is low if it is you know becuase the compressor will come on and very sune after it will kick out. if not and the compressor is running for a long time before breaks but its still not cold the compressor is weak.

Yes, it should, just means you wont have air conditioning.
