I have a 2005 Sierra 1500. I have had a few problems pop up. 1st is a problem filling the tank with gas, I have to go extremely slow or it wont take the gas. I had an P0446 code. I replaced the EVAP selinoid after doing some research, didn't help. Next my ABS system started kicking in just before coming to a stop (around 5 MPH) it was time for new brakes anyways so while at it I replaced the ABS speed sensors. Now my ABS light is on (appears as thou the ABS is not working at all - even thou my brakes work great)... Could these issues be related? Could it be an electrical grounding issue? Do they share a common ground and if so where is it?

Code p 0446 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system--vent control===causes ---wiring---EVAP canister purge valve ---ecm
not filling quickly indicates that the valve is faulty not the solenoid
there is no relation between needing new brakes and the abs system
the abs does not come in to play until a wheel stops turning while under brakes
under normal braking , the abs is not operational and you will only feel it as a pulsation of the pedal when under heavy brakes and the wheels lock up
normal slowing down braking, braking going down hill will give you the impression that it is not working because it isn't until a wheel locks up
issues that will put the abs light on are problem wheel bearings allowing the abs rotor to touch the sensor tip or dirt under the sensor tip

ABS system has nothing to do with base brake operation . ABS light on ? There are DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ,have codes checked ! No it's not a ground issue .

On the Fords, the most likely problem is the rear ABS sensor in the rear end. With out paying the $75 to be sure though it is just an educated guess.

SOURCE: P0573 code on a 2005 Dodge ram hemi, replace speed

P0573 is for your brake switch stuck. It means you either have a bad brake switch, or a bad wire.

SOURCE: Pontiac G6 ABS Problem

when the ABS light comes on you will not hear or feel anything cause soon as the ABS light comes on the ABS is disabled
sounds like it is weather related (rain, snow)
i would check both rear wheel speed sensor harnesses for water intrusion if you see any corrosion (green) on the terminals replace both the hub and harness
if there is no corrosion then check resistance of the sensor also check for a short to ground
if that is ok then put some dielectric lube on the wheel speed sensor terminals and clear the codes and see what happens
intermittent problems can be hard to find
hope this helps

SOURCE: Hi I have a 98 gmc sierra 1500 with 5.7 vortec,

It's hard to find these small leaks. If you have a vacuum pump, there are a few tests you can run on the components of the system. See below.

TESTING

Vapor Canister
See Figure 1

  1. Apply a length of hose to the lower tube of the purge valve assembly and attempt to blow air through it. There should be little or no air should passing into the canister.

If the canister is equipped with a constant purge hole, a small amount of air will pass into the canister.
  1. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply a vacuum of 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) to the control vacuum (upper) tube. If the vacuum does not hold for at least 20 seconds, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the canister.
  2. If the diaphragm holds vacuum, attempt to blow air through the hose connected to the PCV tube while vacuum is still being applied. An increase of air should be observed. If no increase is noted, the canister must be replaced.

Fig. Fig. 1: Cross-section of the vapor canister

Fuel Tank Pressure Control Valve

  1. Attach a length of hose to the tank side of the valve assembly and try to blow air through it. Little or no air should pass into the canister.
  2. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, apply vacuum equivalent to 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) to the control vacuum tube. If the diaphragm does not hold vacuum, the diaphragm is leaking. Replace the valve.
  3. If the diaphragm holds vacuum, attempt to blow air through the hose connected to the valve while vacuum is still being applied. Air should pass. If no air is noted, the valve must be replaced.

Thermostatic Vacuum Switch
  1. With engine temperature below 100°F (38°C), apply vacuum to the manifold side of the switch. The switch should hold vacuum.
  2. Start and continue to run the engine until the engine temperature increases above 122°F (50°C). The vacuum should drop off.
  3. Replace the switch if it fails either test.

as to abs your problem can be the hub itself not the sensor or even problem with abs control have it read to pinpoint problem most auto shops offer this service for free ---as to your 446 code the solenoid is not the only problem need to check the other possible not just change a part the following links should help you may fix problem by blowing out vent hose but sometimes its to late and the canister is filled with dirt [the hose is mounted up in rear wheel well where tires kick up all dirt and dust causing clogging ]

What would cause the body control module on my 2005 gmc Sierra lt 1500 to go bad? Any ideas?

Sometimes they fill with water or accumulate moisture. Life span varies on these things. Some last forever, some die in a few years. Seems to be a common GM problem

Cant fill the truck with gas the pump will shut off and gas can be seen inside the fill pipe. the gas will then slowly go into the tank. the truck is a dodge 1500 hemi 5.7 2x2 .

There is most likely a crimp or blockage in the filler tube. This is the tube that leads between the fill pipe and the tank. You may need to remove the tube and tank or replace the hose so you don't have slow filling problems.

I left my 1996 gmc seirra 1500 sit real low on gas,And now sometimes it will start and sometimes it will not, when it does it cranks for a while now it wont start it acts like it is starving for gas when it...

I don't know how long you let it sit or what climate you are located in so.... From what you said I would guess you have had water condensation in the tank. I would change the fuel filter, fill the tank with fresh fuel and add a container of "water remover" to the tank. If water is the problem this will allow the water to be mixed with the fuel in a very small percentage and burn it along with the fuel. Full or almost full tanks do not condense water. Empty or almost empty tanks do when allowed to sit for a while.

When braking on hard surface, just before dead stop, the last few feet, the ABS brakes takes over and the veh caries on a few more feet, finishing with a slow stop. The 4 wheels braking system were bled...

There was a TSB on this issue with your Sierra, a faulty or dirty ABS sensor is the cause of this problem. The fix is simple, just clean the ABS sensor at the front hub with brake parts cleaner and inspect the wire leads. At worst you may have to replace the sensor it self. Good luck
