Answers were too generic and one solution was wrong. Assuming I have a security problem can I "hard wire" the fuel pump from the PDC?Put it on it's own switch?Assuming that the fuel pump is what the alarm system disables?

You can jump the fuel pump at the relay but it is better to find the Purple wire with the white stripe that runs to the driver's door and expose part of the wire and run a ground wire to it. That will cancel out the Security system. Also you may have to lock and unlock the tailgate twice in quick succession with a key from outside.

SOURCE: my security system is locking my electric system

The easiest way to disconnect it is to remove the fuse for security system. You can find the fuse box, under the steering wheel. Remove the plastic cover, and look on the back for the diagram to see which fuse to take out.

Isai RodriguezAutomotive Mechanic23 years of experienceTHANK ISAISounds like you might have an electrical issue. If all 4 wires on the relay had power, there is something wrong with the wiring. The relay wires should have ground on two wires, power on one wire and switched power on another wire. To activate the fuel pump the computer actually connects one of the ground wires to complete the circuit and send power to the fuel pump. The wire coming from the fuel pump is the other ground wire. Electrical wiring issues can be a nightmare if you don't have the appropriate wiring diagrams to see which wires go to where. No gas to carburator

NO YEAR !!! Grand Cherokee. now that is a challenge.
carb? there is no carb. why do you think its a carb./????
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Grand_Cherokee

1993 is first car, and has no carb. sorry.
unless its and export, is you car outside the confines of N.America?
the car also has engines options.
posting engine free, makes answers impossible, besides generic.
so here is generic.
  • NO fuel in tank.
  • wrong gas cap and has no vacuum breaker, causing huge vacuum build up in tank , start car with cap off to prove this.
  • weak fuel pump or dead pump or filter packed, (tune up time)
  • Lost 12v power to pump. (volt meter tests)
  • the EFI fuel pressure is 28psi, min, on all cars, my 08 jeep its 59psi. so no engine,no year, no answer here.
  • fuses blown. (1st check on all cars is fuses)
  • crushed fuel line, wheeling?
  • that is about it.
The FSM is here (RTM)

We just changed the fuel pump and it still dosnt work. Is there a reset switch or something?

Your fuel pump depends upon the relay in the power distribution center for power. The asd relay also plays a part there. If either is bad, or the asd is not getting a signal from the computer due to a bad crank sensor or security system problem the pump won't come on. If it turns out that you have a problem in the wiring etc, I suggest a chilton manual as a guide in tracing it down...Haynes diagrams are somewhat more generic and can be either wrong or confusing. Remember...wiring generally does not fail mid harness. most problems are found at or just behind a connector.

Its not getting fuel to the motor. i was drivin down the freeway and it sputtered like it was ou of gas when i know it wasnt

Hello

Power for the fuel pump is supplied by fuse #16 in the Power Distribution Center (PDC), goes through the Fuel Pump Relay and then to the Fuel Pump and the ground completes the circuit. Power for the Fuel Pump Relay coil is supplied by fuse #18 in the PDC and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies ground. It is a fairly simple circuit to check.
The first thing to do is check all the fuses, especially #16 and #18. If you have they are good then you will need to pull the fuel pump relay and check for power, with the key ON at the dark green/black wire and orange wire. The DG/BK wire is the power for the fuel pump and the OR wire is the power for the relay coil. If you have power there connect a jumper between the DG/BK wire and the dark green/white wire. You should hear the fuel pump running. If not there is a problem in the DG/WT wire from the relay to the pump.
Okay, lets assume that checks out fine, the next thing to do is replace the fuel pump relay and ground the dark blue wire. You should hear the fuel pump running. Okay? Good, now go to the PCM located on the firewall in the engine room. It has three large connectors, black, white and grey. There is a DB wire in cavity 19of the grey connector. Ground this wire and you should hear the fuel pump running. If it does then the wiring for the fuel pump circuit is all good and the PCM will need to be replaced. If it doesn't run, then you have a problem in the DB wire between the relay and the PCM.
