Fuel filter and oil filter location on Bmw 320 td copact

codes 238-243 are mis-fires in each of the six cylinders. You know that because you have been changing parts trying to correct the spark. But this is just the symptom. Codes 227 and 228 are the fuel system fault in bank one and two. This is the real problem and causes the other codes. Its not getting enough fuel. Try changing the fuel filter with the fuel pressure regulator.

Try being more sensitive.

The oil filter should be in a housing with a plastic top with a big hex shape on top. You remove it with a 36mm wrench or socket.
Then you remove the O-ring from the cover and replace it with a freshly oiled up new O-ring from the filter package. Pull out the old filter and press in the new one. Screw the cover back down. No need to overtighten. The O-ring is the seal.

Its very hard to describe it in writing, but I will guide you.
If you see the fuel injector pump, at the side of your engine, there is a hose/tube that feeds fuel in the pump. Follow the hose/tube it will be going to the fuel filter. The filter looks like an oil filter, round cartridge type with small pump at the top.

IF FUEL FILTER NOT NEAR FUEL TANK.CHECK FRAME, FLOOR PAN OR WHEEL WELL ON A BRACKET YOU WILL SEE A FUEL FILTER.BMW WILL PUT FUEL FILTERS IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.

Fuel Filter is located behind the heat shield,underneath the vehicle, adjacent to the transmission support crossmember.

(left rear of the engine compartment on the firewall)

sounds like a seal is blown in your turbo these are lubed from the engine through oil lines turbo will need rebuilt or replaced

Probably not the filter, the Fuel Pump is located under the Back Seat.
