Check for possible vacuum leak, maybe a hose off or partially broken. Make sure your firing order is correct when reconnecting those wires to the new cap.

'79 Chevy van has been in storage for five years. How do I get it running again?

Start by cleaning the fuel tank (water from condensation accumulates in it), clean the fuel lines, clean and adjust the carburettor, drain the old oil, remove the sparkplugs, put some fine oil in the cylinders and crank the engine manually, put new oil,oil filter, sparkplugs, distributor cap and air filter, replace the water and start the engine. Check for leaks, run the engine for an hour followed by an oil engine cleaner.

Valve cover gaskets, now it wont run

You need to get the timing checked, did you mark the position of the distributor before you took it off. If not you might be slightly off with the new distrib.

Oil in distributor

I think the seal around the distributor shaft is the primary problem. The oil is definitely causing the engine performance issues.

Mazda mx3 wont start

VSS or vehicle speed sensor aka cam sensor or crank position sensor. Test the battery and alternator. You should also check for blown fuses, bad wires and grounds on a car as old as yours. If you find it's getting spark and fuel after further testing, check the timing belt. It could have slipped or broke even if it was changed recently so either pull off the cover or at least do a compression test.

Is there a diagnostic code "reader" on the Mazda MPV 1993?

I am having a similar problem and my mechanic thinks it's a fuel regulator. Part was ordered and it's being replaced this week. We'll see. Unrelated, I'm/we're having a heck of a time finding an oil pan...mine is very blistered....but it is 17 years old.

Hi, this is a Mazda Proceed 2.6 efi vehicle,(mitsubishi engine) 1992 model. It has an on going problem in that it stalls intermittently then will start ok, it intermittently looses power, feels like it...

as long as you are getting a signal to the injectors for them to inject, and you are getting fuel from the fuel pump.... I would check fuel regulator. I am assuming you are getting spark to the plugs.
