I have a 1994 vw golf engine light comes on randomly giving me a loss in power is there any way to figure out what the problem is without taking it to a shop to get put on the computer?

I would call first, but most of the chain auto parts stores will do a scan on your computer and that will tell you what problems have been stored over time. This is a free service since they would like to sell you some parts if they can steer you toward them.
The memory in in your ECU will keep track of errors that occur even after the check engine light is happy.

It sounds as if your vehicle may have severe water damage to the engine. The engine sensors on the golf are suseptable to water damage and can result in epc light that you are seeing on your dash, or so i was told by VW. I replaced all the sensors, alternator and the computer on my original engine, but this action didnt fix the problem. So i bit the bullet and replaced the engine, and haven't had a problem since. If you do the labor yourself it can be done as cheap as $4000. I hope this helps mate.

Epc light on

EPC means Electronic Power Control.

When this light comes on, yopu could have such a sudden power loss.

However, before visiting a workshop for help, do the following basic checks:

No air leak into the intake system.

Ensure that all the electrical socket in the engine management system are well fitted, no loose contacts.

This light can be caused throttle valve malfunction, MAF, brake lights, EVAP , 02 sensor, secondary air pump.

I suggest you visit a competent dealer or independent shop for help. They will scan the EPC and run 'Throttle Body Adaption'. and diagnos the problem. Ask for a garage with a 'Ross Tech VAG-COM' or a ' VW diagnostics scanner.'

Where is the oil pressure sensor of vw golf 1999

The sensors are usually found on the oil filter flange housing with the oil cooler. Also there are two dynamic sensors to measure pressure below 2000 rpm and above 2000 rpm so it could warn you of pressure loss within those two ranges.

I have a 1994 vw golf gl when i'm driving the orange check engine light intermitanly turns on and off what could cause this? Any sugestions to tring to fix this problem?

If it's not showing any problem during normal driving eg rough idle, power loss, etc. most likely it will be a short circuit, but it will be a good idea to have it scanned during driving to check for an error code.
