The battery has gone flat on my key fob. Trouble is I need to use the car to get new batteries but I am worried about trying to get into my car with just the key rather than the fob as surely without the fob to turn off the alarm and the immobiliser, if I use the key to gain access the alarm will go off and then the immobiliser wont allow me to start the car anyway. I can't be the first person to have this issue so how do you bypass it to be able to drive it to sort the issue out? I just don't dare try and open it in case the alarm starts to blare and I can't switch it off again!!

I had the same problem with mine
your key fob is now out of sync with the ECU to sync them just follow this link (renault will charge up to £180 for new key and to sync it)

There is a way to override the code, however you need the code number. The only other way is to sit in car with door shut, play with the central locking button on dash, locking and unlocking. While doing this occassionally turn the ignition on and off. If you do it long enough, you may find the immobiliser light goes out, if it does, quickly start the car.

SOURCE: key fob lights up but doesn't work even with a new battery
I'm more familiar with Range Rovers and Saab's when it comes to key fobs but if you changed the battery you have to re-program the key fob. If you do not have an owner's manual that can take you through the steps you might want to try: push and hold the lock button on the key fob, put it in the driver's side door and turn to lock. With the button still depressed turn back to open, remove the key and release the button. If this doesn't work check any and all fuses associated with your system and last but not least you could take it to a dealer. Good luck!
