How to remove the rear wheel hub on a 98 Z71

To change the bearing , you have to pull the axle. Jack the rear end up and use support jacks. Remove the differential cover, oil will come out. Put the transmission in neutral. Spin the differential until you see the bolt that holds the center pin, remove both. remove the tires. push the axle in. remove the clip one the end of the axle in the differential. pull the axle out. You can chisel the bearing out. But they do have tools that get them out.

Fluid leak from left rear axle housing

This is caused by a leaking rear axle seal you will need to pull the left rear axle out and change the seal and check for a worn axle bearing, this requires the removal of the differential cover, pin and center block or posi spring and clutch pack (if so equipped) and spider gears and then the "C" clip that retains the axle into the gear carrier, u will need a tube of silicone to reseal the cover and a axle seal installer tool and about 2 hours of your time

Procedure for changing bent r rear axle on 1997

if it has the four bolts that have a flange piece on it also then its just a unbolt and pull one.another sign of the unbolt/pull type is there is no removable cover on the back of the diff. i never undo nothing but the 4 bolts. i leave twn in but real loose so when i yank on the axle it wont break nothing when it cuts loose all of a sudden.

How do you change the bearings on the rear axle of a f150 Ford pickup? And does my year model require the bearings to be pressed on?

you have to block up the rear end then pull the cover off the rear end then pull tires and drums off then
go to the punkin and pull the center pin out its a 5/16 or 8mm bolt out slid the pin out then push axles in take the C-clips out then pull axles out
you will need a axle slide hammer to get the bearing out and
then tap the new one in just far enough to get the cyl. in
then put all back to gether

Rear bearing

rear axle bearings I assume? Pull the diff cover, rotate the carrier so you can remove the pin from the center of the 4 spyder gears, push the axle in slightly, and remove large c clip from the carrier area. The axle will pull right out! These vehicles are hard on axle bearings. Look them all over.

Good Luck!
