the part number for the cluster connector is 5016261aa. there never was a recall.it was a tech bulletin 08-15-99

IF YOU REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND UNPLUG IT,PLUG IT BACK IN AND UNPLUG IT AGAIN..DO THIS A FEW TIMES..IT SHOULD CLEAN OFF SLIGHT OXIDATION ON CONNECTOR TERMINALS..HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE..I ALSO THINK REPAIR CONNECTORS AVAILABLE FROM DEALER

SOURCE: fuel gauge does not work and low fuel level light

check the connector at the fuel pump--if no water intrusion or corrosion is present----you will need a fuel level sensor to correct this problem...have done 10 + in these including dodge products recently---hope that helped out!!

Hello, I just purchased a used 1989 Jeep Wrangler and the instrument panel doesn't work (speedometer, fuel gauge, etc). Is the remedy something I could do myself? And what would the remedy be?
on the older jeeps the gauge cluster with the fuel gauge, clock and temp cauge is controled ny a riboin cable on the back. when i got mine theis didnt work either, the cable was dirty. its real easy to take them out all you will need is a phillips screw driver and a q tip and some rubbing alchole. clean it up and see if that does it.

Replace the pump fuel solinoid.That only allows fuel through when the ignition is swiched on and its that is the fault good luck.

Tel me if these wire colors are correct. white/with black, tan, & black on gauge. Tan wire, & black /with yellow wire at sending unit. ?

99 navigator gas gauge doesnt work all of a
some are on a fuse link but most of them have the fuel pump and gauge sender on the pump, it has a wire winding to work the gauge msounds like the whole fuel pump gauge sender needs to be replaced, thanks robert b.

Gauges
There's a defect with them. I have a 1999 and the gauges and dash lights will go off and a "no bus" message will appear where the Odometer displays. If I push on both sides of the Dash they will come back. It seems to be a Ground Problem. I don't know how to fix it yet, however I was told for about $400.00 the Dash can be removed and the problem repaired by the Dealer.
