My fan is not working. It did work on settings 3 and 4 for a long while, and now has stopped altogether. It is not the blower motor ... that didn't solve the problem. It could be the switch. I am wondering what I should expect the cost of it to be, to replace the switch - parts and labor.

Doubt it's the switch ,but you never know until testing is done . Do you know what that is ? Automotive systems electrical testing , view a wiring diagram too see what all is involved in said circuit ,an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test B+ voltage an ground ? Looking at the wiring diagram for the blower motor circuit for your vehicle i see a blower motor relay , a blower motor resistor pack an the blower motor switch . The switch is just a path to ground . If it doesn't work on high speed i would suspect the blower motor relay . View the wiring diagram here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter your vehicle information , year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on HVAC ,then under subsystem HVAC controls will come up on it's own . Click the search button then the blue link . Buy a cheap volt meter an test the circuit . That is after watching these videos .

SOURCE: blower fan

Sounds like the problem is more with the blower motor assembly itself. The blower motor have micro-proccers built itnto them which comunicate with the control heads and do the actual regulating of the fan motor. Dealers have computers with diagnostic software which allows them to monitor what is happening in the eletronic controls of the vehicle. Electronic diagnostics without the diagnostic software makes it very diffecult to pinpoint the actual item causing the problem.

SOURCE: My heater and ac fan speed is not working is the

Your blower motor is probably fine, it is the electronic mechanism that governs the speed of it that has gone haywire. Call the dealer and asked them where it is and how much. Then go to a junkyard and grab one.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. My fan stopped producing air (hot and cold altogether) - from the lowest setting to highest setting does not work.

HI,
sounds like a the heater/ blower fan relay went bad. Unless you're mechanically-inclined you'll need a mechanic to install the replacement.

Do a Google search for the relay or blower motor and/or search for a Chevy Cavalier (same car) forum to find a fix - if you want to tackle it yourself.

My bmw 318 is blower fan not working

Blown Fuse
  • Usually the first thing to inspect when the blower fan stops working is the fuses to see if any are blown. Locate the 10A cluster fuse or the 25A HVAC fuse in your car manual, and examine them to determine if they need replacing. The car owner's manual will tell you where to find the fuses that are connected to the heat and/or air conditioning. On the interior fuse panel of the car, a 30 amp fuse is labeled "Heater" or "HVAC."

Bad Blower MotorIf the fan only works on setting number 3 or 4, or just on the highest setting, it is most likely that your blower motor is failing and is about to die. Use a voltmeter to test the amount of voltage at the blower motor connector with your ignition on and AC running. If it reads 12V, the motor needs replacing.Automatic Climate Control SystemAnother thing that causes the blower fan to malfunction is the Automatic Climate Control System (ACCS). If the ACCS's settings are off, it may cause the fan to stop working. If it is the climate control on the car, typically it is a bad thermostat or electrical circuit that is the culprit.
hope this helps, James Booth

The fan on my heater/ac stop working on settings 1-4 for awhile it worked on #5 but has now stopped altogether

The blower resistor has gone out but if blower is no longer working on speed 5 then either the blower motor is bad as well or the pigtail connector to the motor are bad. Check the plugs to the resistor and to the blower motor for insulation damage discolored or melted wiring.

The HVAC blower fan on my 2001 Pontiac Aztec stopped working on settings 1-3 several weeks ago. Last week it stopped working at setting 4 and today it stopped working all together. What is the most likely...

the blower not working on settings 1-3 is the blower motor resistor. this limits the power provided to the blower motor itself to change the speed. at setting 4 it is getting full power. since it quit on 4 also, i would still say the resistor needs to be replaced first, then see if the blower comes back. you may also need a blower motor. if you have a voltmeter you can just turn the switch to 4 and see if the motor is still getting 12 volts. if it is and doesn't run, it needs a blower motor too. if it's not, then its just the resistor
