1979 Ford F100 how many gallon of gas I should put in the gas tank to start the engine?

for any vehicle on the market, its only necessary to put enough fuel in the tank to register movement of the fuel gauge.
if you have added enough to see it move just a little bit, that is plenty, if the vehicle does not start, begin test procedures to properly diagnose the reason it will not start.
just a gallon can make most move, but if you have put 3 or 4 gallons is and see no movement, check the gauge circuit including the new float and assembly You have just installed

you going to have a service manual with wiring diagrams and layout
also assemble and reassemble procedures for the gas guide for the trk.
now if you get the part at the local auto parts store some have the disassemble and reassemble procedures available when you buy the new part. YOU MITE HAVE TO CALL AROUND TO SEE IF ANY OF THE PART STORE HAS THIS OPTION IN THE PROGRAM OR STORE OPTIONS.

1970 Ford F100 Gas Gauge Not Working

It may be the sending unit in the tank that needs replacing. Here's how you can check: Turn the key on and disconnect the sender unit at the gas tank. Ground the sender unit's wire with a jumper wire from the truck's harness to ground. Watch the gauge. If the gauge on the dash is good, grounding the sender wire will cause the gauge needle to react and should move to full. This would indicate a new sending unit is required. If the gauge doesn't move when the sender unit is grounded, the gauge is bad and needs replacing. Pull the instrument cluster out to replace the gas gauge. Likely any old ford gas gauge might work-back then, there were not so many production changes.

I have a 1982 ford f100 5.0l v8. My question. Is there a filter or pump of some sort in the front gas. tank? Im not getting fuel to my fuel pump located on the timing cover. cat you help me troubleshoot...

No other pumps, just the one on the timing cover, there should be a filter, if you've changed that disconnect the fuel line at the pump from the tank and place a finger on the fuel pump where the hose was and have the engine cranked over to see if the pump is sucking, the diaphragm inside the pump could be damaged and the pump needs to be replaced.

I need to know how to install a new gas tank on a 1980 Ford F100. I just bought this truck and have a major rust problem in the old tank. The truck has a 460 in it and an electric fuel pump. I am a total...

Should be relatively simple. First off, if it has an underbody spare tire, you may need to remove that. Also, I forgot to ask if the vehicle is equipped with two fuel tanks. These instructions would be for the rear tank, which would probably be a lil more difficult than the front tank.
And you should probably siphon out as much existing fuel in the tank to make it as easy to handle as possible-when that time comes.-Most tanks have a drain plug at the bottom just for this purpose. You will need a floorjack (I recommend a piece of wood that will stabilize the tank) to ease the tank down slowly-there may be some more small hoses/and /or electrical connections (fuel/tank sending unit?/pump?) that you may have to play with/remove before completely lowering to the ground.

1-remove spare tire-if applicable
2-disconnect the battery-negative cable at least or the entire battery as a whole
3-drain fuel from tank into suitable container
4-remove fuel filler hose(fuel filler door to tank-hose clamps)
5-place jack into position
6-remove straps/bolts securing fuel tank to underbody
7-lower down the tank slowly until you can access the other electrical connections/fuel lines
8-remove and disconnect those-(I use colored tyraps to mark which ones go where-because a lot are the same size)
9-If you are tranferring the fuel pump/sending unit(some are two separate units, others are one piece), I recommend a new filter bag on the fuel pump-theyre cheap
10-installation is the reverse of removal-

Hope this helps!

inside the gas tank there is a little round screen on the senion unit which is also the pickup line and fuel guage. take it out and get a can of brake parts cleaner and flush out the screen and then the fuel should go through that is about the only thing i thnk would be left since you have changed the pump and filter.
