SOURCE: replace horn fuse in fuse panel of 1992 pontiac bonneville

Your fuse box is located on the driver side under the dash board. Up above where your brake and gas pedal are located. There should be a plastic cover that can be snapped off to reveal all of your fuses and on the inside of this plastic cover there should be a diagram of the fuses that are in use.

SOURCE: loose steering column in 1989

Is it a tilt if so you have to go farther down the column so you can get to the 3 screws that tighten the upper collar so it will not be loose and wiggle if this is your problem. good luck

Remember that these car's the Passlock antitheft system. If you replace the ignition, you need to make sure it is compatible with your antitheft system and will need to use the transponder key like before. This can be a much bigger project than you think. This link explains the antitheft

I am trying to pull the steering wheel column off to change the key cylinder for a new key in a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville, but I am having some trouble. I have taken the air bag off and the steering wheel...

You need the proper tool. A steering wheel puller will remove it with ease. It has a center shaft to push on the column and bolts to the wheel itself. When you turn the center shaft it pulls the wheel right off. Try to remove a steering wheel without a puller can damage the column.

Bright headlights won't turn on. We bought it use and we don't know how to turn them on. (They may not even work)

your hi/lo switch is mounted to the steering column under the dash. It operates by pulling on the signal wand--a rod going down the column pushes the switch off and on. If nothing happens when you pull back on the wand, check to make sure the rod is still in the switch and is moving down on the switch whenm you pull back on the wand. If that mechanism is good, the switch is probably bad. I have pasted a picture of the switch below. The cost is about $12 at autozone.

If the rod is not actuating the switch, someone will need to take the steering wheel off and take the column apart until reaching the actuating linkage to see what's wrong.

The turn signal pin bracket broke

Part is called the signal canceler. it needs to have the wheel removed to get to it (get a haynes or chiltons manual for instructions) The harness going to it needs to be threaded down inside the housing, but other than that it's not really that hard to do with an instruction guide. (if you don't follow instructions you can end up deploying the air bag (no fun)

I needed to put my emergency flashers on when if caught a flat and cannot located the switch. I have a 1992 pontiac bonneville.

Looking at the steering column in front of the steering wheel look at about the 5 o'clock position. Push in on the center of the switch to turn them on and pull out on the ring around the outside of the switch to turn them off.

Ignition replacement

Do you have tilt steering? if so the mechanism that actuates the ignition switch down low on the upper side of the steering column is damaged, you will need to pull it apart and check for damaged broken parts.

Need to see diagrams of the figs. 3-6 from a Chilton's manual...

My son came down and figured it out for me. Not sure what all he did but he had to make a few modifications by splicing the wires together after cutting the wires just under the dimmer switch...then a few adjustments were needed to get it to all work right.
Thanks
