2005 Chevy Blazer. Drive and overdrive dont work?

First start with a scanner and see what codes are recorded. You may have a communication link problem.

89 chevy wont start or turn over

First is to get it to turn over. Of you have a good battery and everything is hooked up. turn the key on, crawl under it and jump the starter. Big starter lead to the small one. If it turns over and or starts. replace the fusible link(part of the wires) from the ignition switch to the starter. The link could be at the starter or up by the battery.

What is the first thing to check when a 89 chevy 4x4 aotu. C1500 wont move when shifted.

Check the end of the shifter cable located on the driver side of the transmission underneath the truck. They are common for breaking allowing you to start the truck but not go anywhere when you move the gear selector.

I put the key in my 89 chevy k1500, and it turns , unlocks everything. but wont turn far enough to start. what could this be?

Probably the ignition switch (not the key cylinder) on the lower portion of the column or the actuator rod leading to it.

Just bought 89 chevy k1500 z71 oil gage reads 40-60 when truck is off. also the brake light wont go off

As far as the brake, your brake switch button may be stuck. It is above the brake pedal and looks like a chrome cylinder. There is a button on the end. See if you can get it loose. As far as the oil guage, the sending unit may be defective, Make sure the oil level is good in the engine.

My car wont move forward or reverse

Chances are is that the torque converter needs to be replaced. However, the transmssion on this vehicle are only serviceable by transmision shops. No regular mechanic will open up the transmission. When the torque converter fails (clutch and plates shutters to small pieces) the debri flows in the transmision thereby potentially destroying the gears and/or clogging the filter and pump. Go straight to a reputable transmission shop and let them correctly diagnose the transmission.
