BMW CUTS OUT
A few things to check.

  1. Is fuel pump delivering enough fuel.
  2. Is injectors clean. Perhaps dirt in fuel. replace fuel filter
  3. Air leakage at top air intake of manifold at ICV idle control valve. Two hoses inside this housing prone to perishing.
  4. Throttle position sensor faulty.
  5. Mass air flow sensor faulty.
  6. ICV faulty or dirty. comon fault on older e36.
Havent done it yet but ICV is easy to clean according to internet. instruction available at bmw e36 blog. All off above can be tested by yourself according to manual.

Hi my 320 keeps stalling at low revs. It has cut out on me approaching a junction and also stationary at a junction but then i can leave it running no problem? Can you help with this 'intermitant' annoying...

is it happening only when the brakes are applied? if so there could be a vacuum leak somewhere causing it, check all the vacuum lines to ensure they are all tight and secure.

Bmw 325i 2003 stall

Sounds like you have a small bit of dirt or grit in the fuel system when accelerating it is drawn with enough force to cut off the fuel supply then is released when engine at Idle.
1 run liquid fuel line/injector cleaner in 1 tank
2 check fuel lines for debris
3 change fuel filters
4 have fuel tank flushed
here is trouble shooting order less expense to greater.

BMW 316 L reg, car stalls and dies when changing down approaching a junction, I have to leave it for a number of hours, then it will start. This is doing my head in.

I had a friend who bimmer did this. It was the sensor that goes to the air cleaner. I can't remember what is is called specifically, but check with your BMW parts man and he will know.

BMW 316i KEEPS STALLING WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT JUNCTIONS

at the engine, there is a small sensor that helps increase or decrease the rpm of the engine. Perhaps yours is soo low, that when you slow down, it's almost about to stop.

The other problem could be the airfilter sensor. If it's not properly fixed or if the sensor itself is a bit damaged, than the engine is not getting enough air and so, let's the engine almost go off.

Please give further details if this has not helped.

thank you

BMW 535 auto gearbox issue?

hello jimandsuecla, you could potentially have a trans torque converter that is staying engaged. If the converter does not release, it would be similar to slowing down a manual transmission in first gear and not pushing in the clutch. You could also potentially have an idle valve that is sticking/binding and not responding enough to change in rpm and load. Does the car stall when the a/c is on and when the a/c is off? Have you had any shifting concerns. What is the current idle rpm reading while in gear with the a/c on or off?Any additional info will be helpful. Thanks
