Ford street ka - rear window heater hardtop

Installing a cable to connect the rear window heater in a Ford Street Ka hardtop can be a complex task that requires some mechanical and electrical knowledge. There is no standard cable available in the car, therefore it's necessary to install a new cable to connect the rear window heater.
Here's a general guideline on how to install a new cable for the rear window heater on a Ford Street Ka hardtop:
  1. Locate the main power source for the rear window heater. This is typically located under the dashboard or in the engine compartment.
  2. Run the new cable from the main power source to the rear window heater. Make sure to route the cable along the existing wire harnesses and avoid any potential hazards such as moving parts or hot surfaces.
  3. Connect the cable to the rear window heater. This typically involves removing the cover from the heater and attaching the cable to the appropriate terminals.
  4. Test the rear window heater to make sure it is working properly.
It's important to have a good understanding of the car's electrical system, and to be familiar with the tools and materials needed to do the job properly. It's also important to make sure the car's warranty is not void by doing this modification.
A professional mechanic or an auto electrician could be the best choice to do this task. They will have the necessary knowledge and experience to safely and effectively install the cable for the rear window heater on your Ford Street Ka hardtop.
It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines when performing any modification or repairs on your vehicle, to ensure the safety and proper functioning of the car.

How do I install a new windows motor- to include the cable drum (drivers side). The old motor burned up and the cable broke. Thanks Hans

You'll need to buy a new motor and regulator. You can go used or new, it's up to you. The regulator will include the cable.

- Remove the interior door trim,
- Disconnect the power cable from the window motor,
- Remove the window bump-stops (one at the front, one back),
- Remove the glass window from the regulator (two bolts),
- Slide the glass window out of the top of the door,
- Remove 3 nuts from the window motor,
- Remove all window regulator bolts,
- Slide the motor & regulator assembly out the top of the door.

- Mount your new motor to your new regulator,
- Install the new motor & regulator assembly in the reverse order.

Cable snapped on power window

This is too easy it took me 15 mins to do. only 6 bolts to remove. Just follow the directions. You can get the parts off the internet for about $60.00 just have to look.

The cable cuts into the plastic guides and over time the cut right through them. The bright side is they are easy to replace.
There are two bolts that hold the window to the regulator. Remove them and lift the window up and out of the way. You don't need to take it out, just secure it so it doesn't fall down. (tape it on the top going from one side to the other)
42140395.gif Then there are two bolts on the top and bottom of the regulator slide. Take them out, noting where the are as far as adjustment. You can use a scratch awl to scribe around the bolt heads to be sure you get them back as they were.
42140396.gif Then remove the three bolts holding the power window motor on and remove the guide and motor as an assembly. To install the new one, take the power window motor off the old regulator and install it on the new one.
42404005.gif Then install the regulator and power window motor assembly in reverse order of installation.
