Year make and model? FWD or RWD could be heater hoses. FWD could be O rings, gaskets and rusted pipes.

It can be fixed without removing the engine. What car is it? cause it depends if its fwd or rwd, the fwd usually need the exhaust removed before removing the oil pan

Speed sensors are usually located on the differential in RWD cars and on the transaxle (which combines the transmission and differential) in FWD cars. The cavalier is a FWD (front wheel drive) car, so the speed sensor is located on the transaxle.
The exact location in the 98 cavalier is behind the engine toward the passenger side mounted onto the transmission with one nut and it has a plug with 2 wires on it. Can be easily accessed by jacking up the car and removing the passenger side front wheel.

It is most likely front wheel drive, some are all wheel drive.

do a spinout in some dirt or snow and have a friend watch! Step on the gas and peel out, then hit the brakes and see where the skid mark is!!! lol
the easiest way is to look underneath. If there is a long tubular drive shaft from the transmission to a rear gear differential, it is RWD.
If there is no rear differential, it is FWD.
Look at the engine too... if it is linear to the body... RWD. FWD engines sit sideways and have 1/2 shaft axles coming out of them with rubber boots.
