It located in the back facing firewall bolted to the engine it looks like a eyeball with a bolt in the center and a wire harness plugged to it some are in the front under the exhaust manifold but its rare

i am sorry its a 6 cycl i didnt check i thought automatic thats its a 4 cycl the 6 is harder its located in the center under the intake it is hard to get at but why do you want to change it very rear they stop working usually the wire harness corrodes or brakes and with scanner it gives you the knock sensor code
well i was recently told that it shouldn't be needed to change cause i was told that if it had went out the car wouldn't even turn over (turn on)
no the car will still start and run but it will ping and be hard on fuel consumption as well the knock sensor is installed to correct the engine noise and stabilize the excertion on the engine thats why knock sensor corrects timing to eliminate the pingin as well roughness at idle
Add a Commentif you talk about a crank sensor or cam sensor then it might not start at all
There are two knock sensors on V6 engines , they are buried under intake manifold. You have to take out intake manifold in order to replace them . I'd recommend better diagnostics before you go that route. Most of the time it's a bad pigtail harness for those sensors that usually go bad . But that will give you check engine light on.
