The problem with the factory radio / entertainment systems systems is that they are monitored and run on a computer network by the Body Control Module. When strange things happen, you need the dealership or a Radio / Alarm installer to reprogram them. When you reset it, you put it back to day 1, pre-program.

The earth is likely to be via the ECM. Check the plugs for corrosion. You can also connect the fan direct to the battery to double check the fan actually works
Did u find a solution to it. I my self have the same unit. Can u please help me in chaging the language and pls do let me know what memory card works with it.
There is a language option in the settings. I did find a method to change language on the 164VFI and I can only hope that the menu layout is the same.
