Question about 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Hatchback
My 2008 Pt Cruiser engine light comes on intermintenlty . Car will run fine and then will start sputtering . If I let off on the gas for a few seconds it tends to run fine when I accelerate again. Have added a fuel additive as I was told could have gotten bad gas . What else should I do ?

SOURCE: code PO340
P0340 is a Crankshaft Position Sensor error. It determines firing order and is most likely the cause of your problem. It's mounted near the oil filter on the engine block. Below is a picture of how it appears in your car. Best of luck.

My PT cruiser is a couple of years older, but I had the same problem. Drove fine, but start-up was erratic for several weeks. By the time AAA arrived, it usually was working fine. But when it suddenly started "struggling for power on the freeway and further along on the same trip, lurching (on a city avenue) I drove straight to my mechanic. It WAS the same sensor . . . and car has been driving perfectly ever since he changed it.
