SOURCE: 95 GMC Jimmy 4.3l W vin rough idle

My problem was solved when I repaired my 4 wd activation dash switch. The switch was contacting on 2WD & 4HI at the same time. The front differential activation is vacuum activated possibly creating a tug of war that didn't actually engage it but drained off vacuum from the engine? A theory at best but stumbbled across it because I knew the switch wasn't working properly I repaired it and low and behold rough idle disappeared and all is good for 3 weeks running.

Did you check for codes. It won't matter what you change if your computer failed. You should of payed the diag fee. You would of saved alot of money.

Shuts off after start up

You didn't list the age of your Passat, but if it is older and/or has a lot of miles I would suspect the fuel pump is going or the injectors are clogged. Could be ignition related but I would guess that it less likely from your description.

I am having problems with my 85 vette L98 car will start for a few seconds than die. I have put in new pump , filter.pump relay.t.p.s. set at 05.4v new a,i,c..igm mod,, tach filter and yesterday it...

That is a possible cause alright. I would get a can of fast freeze spray from a motor parts factor. If its ok when cold but shuts off when hot its very likely.when the engine shuts off, spray the crank sensor and immediately start engine. If it starts and stays running its your crank sensor. Does it have a duel mass flywheel?? Some times if the crank sensor picks up off the flywheel and the duel mass is worn , it then runs out of sync with the cam shaft pick up sensor, which will cut the vehicle off. Just a shot in the dark? If you can drive vehicle when cold , check for vibrations whilst engine is cruising at steady speed. You will not feel vibrations under load. Keep us informed on how you get on.

My 1993 nissan sentra 1.6 wont run and check engine light wont turn on,bulb is ok

Could be any of several things. If the crank sensor is marginal and not sending pulses, the fuel pump is shut off. This is for safety. The pump is energized for a few seconds as key is turned in preparation for starting then engine must rotate normally to keep the pump on. If it stops, in a few seconds the fuel is cut off.

If no evidence of anything wrong with the codes your being told to check. It might be your ECM is bad, I had a friend had similar problems and they put a new ECM in it and it ran great again.

I have a 1995 Cadillac Sedan Deville with 109k miles. I bought it new, and it's been without any major problems. Now there is a consistant engine shut down problem after driving or at idle for 7 minutes...

I have a similar issue with a 94 DeVille. Runs for a while then shuts down. Fuel pressure is good (I drove around with a pressure gauge attached and it still shut down with no drop in pressure). I've replaced the idle control and ignition module - no improvements.
I too have code P012 showing which to (potentially) the crank position sensor - which I can't seem to locate.
Any luck on your issue?

Cold start no problem. Engine warmed and driven,

I do not think it is the PVC valve. I could be the Idel air control vavle, the tps sensor (throtal postion sensor), and it could also be a vacume leak. Is the check engine light on? if it is then you need to run the codes to get a better idea of where the problem is. if not that does not mean that the computer is not picking up any codes. you should check the codes right after you experince the problem and you should run the koeo test. key on engine on test that will pick up any codes from the sensores while the engine is running. this is all asuming that you have a modern vehical that uses a computer. if your vehical is older and does not have a computer it could be a sticking float in the carb. or a few other posablitlys. What is the make model and year of your vehical ? with this information i will be able to give you a more definate answer

Starting problem when hot (occasinally when cold)

When this happens try opening the gas cap and retightening. Might be vapor lock.
