SOURCE: 2003 ES 300 VSC TRAC OFF & CHECK ENGNE LIGHT ALL
I have a 1999 ES 300 with the same problem. I took it to an independent repair center, (Big O Tires). They ran the codes and it told them it was one of three oxygen sensors in the car. There are two sensors for the engine, (one on either side of the V6 engine), and one for the catalytic converter. The bad part is this sensor is located AFTER the cat. converter, which means it could be the converter, (about $1500.00), or the sensor, (about $250.00). After checking all sensors, it was determined it was PROBABLY the sensor after the converter. I had the sensor replaced and so far the lights have not come back on. Seeing that your car is a 2003 model, I really don't think it could be the converter. If you have been dealing with a reputable repair center, go there. Otherwise go to the dealer and see what they say. If they recommend the converter, push for the sensor. That way you are only out $250.00! Good Luck!!!

A week ago, on my Lexus ES 300 (2001), "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights came on. This coincided with me filling the gas tank to the brim to round the dollar to be paid. I cleaned the gas tank cap and the tank opening. However, both lights persisted. On the same day, when I turned on the car again, there was a hesitance, a stuttering to come on. Both "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights were still on.
The next day, the car wouldn't come on at all. It sounded as the battery was dead. I couldn't even jump start the car. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. The "Check Engine" light was off. However, the "Trac Off" was still on. I cleaned the gas tank cap one more time.
The next morning, when I turned the car on, there was no problems. It came on instantly as it used to be, didn't have any warning lights, and drove smoothly.

if not a loose gas cap then what might be the problem
SOURCE: TRAC OFF, VSC, and check engine lights are on in my 2004 Lexus ES
Often caused by a loose gas cap or fouled or failed air fuel O2 sensor. Check your gas cap is fully ratcheted, Drive a day or two. If lights don't clear you will need a code reader attached to the car to diagnose.
